Harrahs casino in New Orleans refuses entry to a black female because

Tell me more…
It’s a long drawn out story over 3 separate posts and I just injured my thumb earlier today so can’t type it all out. I’m sure I told the story one other time, someone might recall and can fill in the details.

I once went to a bachelor party in NO. Married at the time, but ended up scoring a three way with two hot coeds from the south. We were also doing lines of coke all night and morning long.

That casino succkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkks
I enjoy it in spurts. Might swing by once every 3 or 4 months (I dont hit Casinos often). Probably a bit more now that sports betting is legal and up and running.

The place is about to get a heck of a makeover and being rebranded to Caesers Palace New Orleans. Interested to see how that turns out.

I more meant i think the machines are wayyyyyyyyyy to tight. You walk in and everytime poof $20 gone in 7 seconds

If she's a 2nd LT, then no that is NOT a valid ID. WTF? Additionally, if this is an Air Force ID, the average time to make E-6 is 9.12 years so that's around 27 years old. The average time in the Army is 8.5 years.

When I was an E-4 in Alaska, the bouncer at the door of Chilkoot Charlie's confiscated my military ID. Why? Because the person who issued it forgot the holographic seal on it, so the guy thought it was fake.

Once again the headline should read, Harrahs Casino in New Orleans denied entry to a 23 y.o. Black woman because she showed her military ID and the white employee doesn’t believe she could’ve made the rank of E-6. Called the police on her.

Nope. If she's 23, then I too don't believe she's an E-6 (and she says, "Actually I'm a 2nd Lieutenant now") which is actually more believable than her being an E-6 at 23. Furthermore, the guy didn't even say it was fake...it simply said he didn't think it was her because, well, he's not a racist who thinks, "They all look alike", which is what this woman was probably hoping for.
Would be interested to find out the end result.

The first time I went to Vegas at 21 years old we stayed at the Mirage and the Harrah's there was right across the street and had a steak and eggs deal for $6.99 between midnight and 7am, I think that is the only thing I ate for three days straight. Harrah's will always hold a special place in my heart. csb/

I don't think it's possible to make E-6 by age 23......there are time in grade requirements to be eligible for promotion.

I believe she has since been promoted so her rank on the ID doesn’t match her actual rank. At least that is the way I interpreted it.
Ugh...screwed up my response. Editing now.

Going from an E-6 to a 2nd LT isn't a promotion, it's a lengthy process that requires a 4-year degree along the way; either via ROTC or night-school along the way. In either case, there just isn't that kind of time built into her rank claim, her age and the time it takes to achieve both. For her to have made it to E-6, then go through 9-17 weeks of OTS/OCS (depending on service), then on to her new career training school she'd likely be between 27-29 (on average). To be 23, she'd have needed to start that process as an E2-E4.

Just watched the video. That place has a history of making the wrong assumption. When they escorted me out (almost 20 years ago) for being too drunk to gamble (as if this is a thing), I told them “I have not yet begun to defile myself!” They escorted me to the door anyway.

Worked out for the best. I had plenty of life left in me and stumbled into a bachelorette party (for real, not the N.O. story one on here) at Coyote Ugly (which must’ve been nearby as I walked there) and spent the rest of the night partying there.

Most definitely. She could be telling the truth, but the guy isn't wrong in his stance; especially if he has any military background. If it were me I'd be like, "Get outta here with this E-6 nonsense". ...and even then I could have been wrong, but it wouldn't be because she's black. But because of, well...MATH. LOL

I can see her being National Guard out of high school and making E-6 while attending college and now being a 2 LT, but that is rare. I’d be interested in how this shook out once NOPD arrived.

I was 20 and was E-4 while in college. She very well could have been an E-6 at 23 with college degree and years in service especially if she joined as a split-option trainee as a 17 yr old. And, I am guessing that's what she did if she was an E-6, but now 2LT.
Thanks for the input

Yes, she could have already had her degree, BUT you have to factor in at least 3 years to get it (assuming she's super smart--and we will for this scenario(s)):

- She went to college at 18, graduated at 21, joined the military, served 2 years, then commissioned. There's no time in there to have made E-6. It's just not possible...unless I'm just missing some other factor here.

or

- She joined at 18, worked on her degree, then commissioned. She'd have needed to make rank 1st time, each time she was eligible, then go to OTS/OCS and then retrain. If this turns out to be the case, then she is BAD ASS...and is truly an amazing, dedicated person (who should have just gotten her ID updated because 2nd LT is more plausible/typical for a 23 yo than E-6 lol).

Are you assuming she entered as E-1? If she did JROTC, she could have entered in as an E-3. Again, I’d think it would be rare to be E-6 at 23, but not impossible.

Yeah, I entered as an e-3 with 2 years of college and zero prior ROTC or service. I had friends who did ROTC and took college credits while in HS and made E-5 while in college before switching to ROTC commission. Not why she wouldn't have done that too, but regardless if those ID's are real there is a small window for one to be promoted to E-6 as they finish OCS and then get commissioned.

Human rights are the most important of things we should care about. You're just pissed because there is yet another example that proves racism and white privilege exists. I hope this woman has a big payout.
I'm pissed? LOL...yeah...so angry.

If she graduated college, then enlisted right after, don't they promote you automatically to an e-3 or e-4? So if she graduated at 20 or 21, would 3 yrs in service be out of the timeframe to get 2 promotions to e-6 and then attend ocs to get to o-1? 23 does sound young to be an e-6, but is it possible? Something isn't adding up, wonder if the facts of the situation are getting muddled like these viral stories tend to have happen.

In any case, why wouldn't her original id be good enough?

Very unlikely she made E-6 by 23. I believe time in grade requirements is something like 84 months. Her additional claim that she was now an LT2 means whole she was advancing so very quickly to e6 she also got a 4 year degree and went through ocs. This isn't a race thing at all. It is a you are full of shit thing where did you get that ID. The casino employee is correct here. If by chance she is what she claims she acted in a manner unbecoming of an officer in this video. Her bosses if she is a lieutenant are not going to be happy with this type of attention.

Also if she is a lieutenant at this point why is she using an I'd with her incorrect rank? That is not a small deal.

Or if that was a white woman aged 23 she'd be let in with a military ID showing she was ranked E-6 no questions asked. The End.
