The only good news is Clark, Czinano, and any three female students at Iowa is probably enough to beat Wisconsin. Yes I will regret posting this if we lose.
We need a Tania Davis at the end of game in situation like this. Her short statue leaves no room for defenders to poke the ball away without fouling. Tall players inevitably have this issue while dribbling. When Feuerbach has the ball, I have flashbacks of Disterhoft playing point forward. Ohio State's Braxtin Miller has the same problem. Taylor Mikesell on the other hand has a pretty tight handle for being 5' 11.
Bluder probably crossed a line criticizing officials during postgame. We'll see.
The Gabby screen wasn't entirely on camera, but it looked ok. Skinny woman just ran head on into a solid object. McKenna wasn't fouled on that last rebound either. As always, Iowa just has a lot of finesse players. Makes for good shooters / passers. Not very good bangers.
A great game. Want more players to get involved in the offense...but when Clark & Czinano shoot a combined 66%, it's understandable they take all the shots. A two man offense will only take us so far though.
Warnock was fouled on the last rebound. She got hip-checked. It wasn't as obvious because she was already off-balance, but she absolutely got hit by the OSU player's lower body.
I thought that particular screen was fine, but there were a handful of others than was thinking “wow that’s a hard screen”. I also though Warnock got fouled on the initial attempt at a a rebound at the end.
Watching on TV, seemed clear there was a kicked ball that was missed. Warnock was fouled on the rebound. There were several times Caitlin was fouled that were not called, not to mention the jump ball that was called a foul. In the end it was lack of defensive effort and I’m not sure this team realizes that. I’m sure Coach has told them, but the defense doesn’t show up very often.
Harris dropping the F bomb at Clark right at mid court in front of everyone should have been an immediate "T"
I think Indiana and Maryland are winnable games. We'll see against Michigan. I think they're going to kill us on the glass, but they also seem to be as careless with the ball as we are.
From the radio show, Lisa said the rescheduling of the Indiana home game is not going well right now.
Bluder did not give an injury update today. Said she knows the status of several players, but wanted to do what’s best for the team and keep it to herself ahead of the Wisconsin game.
Gabbie Marshall and McKenna Warnock were injured during the Ohio State game. Logan Cook has been out, but did not have a boot on while on the bench Monday. AJ Ediger has a high ankle sprain.

I hope Cook is back soon, especially if Warnock's injury is anything serious. She was holding her leg after she was fouled (not called but it was a foul). We are running out of bodies. It annoys me that Bluder is so hush-hush about injuries. Fran is more forthcoming though not always specific. It would be nice to at least know the general area of the injury of a timetable for return.
Wisconsin is so bad we should win as long as we have enough bodies to play.
Coaches are limited by what they can say regarding player injuries.
The week ahead for women's hoops
Coming off a tough home loss, Iowa has two challenging games this week against Wisconsin and Michigan.
So looks like 7 games left. 3 should be relatively easy (@WI tonight, MN, Rutgers) and the other 4 are the big dogs (@MI, MD, @IN, MI). Just going 4-3 down the stretch would be disappointing. Need to split the 4 tough games and avoid any clunkers.
You'd almost like to see a game where the players called their own stuff. It'd probably be a cleaner game.
Kate Martin got called for kicking the ball last night, thought for a little bit she was going to get away with it, but they called it. Must be a penalty for some teams but not for others.
From what I gathered last night from Bluder, they are likely going to be short-handed Sunday.
Better have security on standby then, in my experiences on how well that goes..................
It certainly didn't look good. Not really sure how Marshall would go from having her shooting arm in a sling on Thursday to shooting threes well on Sunday. And Warnock's injury was impacted her play before the Ohio State game made it worse.
Understood....was more commenting on just how bad the actual officials doing the games are.
Marshall's defense is more important than her shooting at this point. She hasn't been a high volume scorer this year but she's a lock down defender. It will depend on range of motion. I tend to believe it's a soft tissue (deep contusion) type of injury or she likely wouldn't have been able to come back and play against OSU. I really hope she can go against Michigan.
Warnock could be out a while. Her injury looked more serious.
Gabbie is a decent perimeter defender but I wouldn’t call her a”lockdown defender”.
It almost seems crazy with the way the season's gone, but if we somehow manage to win on Sunday, we might be the slight favorite to win the conference.
Indiana doesn't look like the same team post-Covid without Holmes. Michigan would still have to play us in Carver. Maryland still looks off and Owusu might be hurt. Ohio State is a loss behind us and still has a couple tough games left.
