House G.O.P. Plans Vote on Israel Aid as Senate Tries to Close Broader Deal

He needs to produce something that addresses the situation at the border, or every R in a tough district gets hammered.

That bill addressed the border.

I never said they were the same thing.

No, you just said equated an actual bipartisan bill - which you conceded looks like a decent bill; with the House GOP bill as one that also addresses the border…by giving everything the GOP it wants and nothing the democrats want.

I didn't "equate" them...just pointed out they passed a border bill. It was one of the first things they did in 2023.

The bills obviously aren't "equatable" as the senate bill includes border, ukraine, Israel, Gaza, Indo pacific funding. Two totally different animals.

No, the reason they’re not equitable is because one is an actual bipartisan bill while the other is a GOP wishlist.

Biden threatens veto of House GOP’s standalone Israel aid bill

President Joe Biden would veto a proposed standalone aid package for Israel, the White House said Monday, as House Republicans look to tank a long-awaited bipartisan Senate border deal that would include aid to US allies.

“The Administration spent months working with a bipartisan group of Senators to reach a national security agreement that secures the border and provides support for the people of Ukraine and Israel, while also providing much-needed humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by conflicts around the world,” the White House wrote in a statement. “Instead of working in good faith to address the most pressing national security challenges, this bill is another cynical political maneuver.”

“The security of Israel should be sacred, not a political game,” the statement continued.

House to vote on GOP's new standalone Israel aid bill

Washington — The House is expected to vote Tuesday on a new standalone bill to provide billions of dollars of aid to Israel, complicating efforts in the Senate to rally support for a bipartisan national security bill that House GOP leaders oppose.

Hasn’t been passed by the senate yet.
Which?
The House’s bill will not pass the Senate.
The Senate proposal would pass the Senate and get the President’s signature. And, the Senate proposal contains most everything the House was demanding in a bill, 5 days ago. Now, Trump doesn’t like it, so the House (leadership) refuses to act upon it. Bins… which is it?

Israel is sacred to a point….Can Israel be wrong and yet warrant 100% US support? America doesn’t even support itself 100%!
Israel has overstepped its rights in some instances here bins…most other Israeli PMs would have made other accommodations for Oalestine abs invading and appropriating the West Bank. Both which were very short-sighted land grabs by Israeli governments with predictably catastrophic results.

A terrorist group that happens to be the government of Gaza declared war on them on Oct 7.
Their prosecuting that war, as every nation worth their salt would do.

Nenrenyahu and his policies have certainly given Hamas much more standing in the ME the past decade to 15 years. Netanyahu and Friends have certainly taken the extreme when dealing with the Palestinians.
Again, because of Israeli faux pad, does the US have to unconditionally support her wayward policies? And also, let’s not forget how Trump/ Netanyahu went out of their way to embarrass the US Congress by “their invitation” to Netenyahu to speak before a “joint” session of Congress a few years ago. Congress and politicians have long memories.

And Israel is its own worst enemy in how they have treated the Palestinians. And that is where I stand. A 2 State solution is the regions only hope for any type of peace. Netenyahu opposes that concept 100%. He has outlasted any usefulness he might have ever had. Israel needs great leaders….people of foresight abd courage in irder to exist. Netenyahu has never been that leader.

What Palestinian entity does Israel deal with for a 2 state solution?

Israel pulled out of Gaza and got rocket attacks and a terrorist organization elected as the governing body for their trouble.

Any 2 state solution requires a good faith partner to deal with on the Palestinian side and there is none.

Netentahu has forded Palestinians into the and if Hamas. A wiser leader would have manipulated the situation is a different direction and allow the NATIVE residents of the area (the Palestinians) to chose an independent leadership of their own instead of allowing Hamas strong-arm the region under their reign of terror.
Again, Netenyahu has been Hamas best Allie in this mess. Without Netenyahu, Hamas could not have become what they are today.

The Palestinians elected Hamas Joel…
In 2006. Netanyahu wasn’t prime minister at that time.

International cooperation, have to eliminate places where the rats can hide.

If you believe the war in Gaza is going to wipe out Hamas you're only fooling yourself and Bibi.
If you think international cooperation in eliminating Hamas is coming…you’re fooling yourself.

Not with Bibi running Israel they're not.

I give Israel every right to defend themselves and fight any who attack them. But they're never going to win the war that way.

It should have been EASY to rally international support behind Israel after the October attack, and firmly fix Hamas as the villains in this conflict. By waging total war the way he has, Bibi has utterly squandered that opportunity and did exactly what Hamas wanted.

baloney…there’s a lot of Jew hate in the international community.
Israel has always been up against it in that regard…nothing new.

Pulling out of Gaza didn’t work for them.
Has there been anything under the Bibi regime that has?

Aside from the fact that they were making no attempts to promote or support ANY alternative to Hamas - Bibi's entire claim to fame was that he was making Israel more secure. Can you honestly say that's working?

The Gaza withdrawal wasn’t under Netanyahu.
He needs to go though…agree with that.

Israel continues to treat the Palestinians like their slaves. The problem is Hamas. No one wants the Palestinians in “their country”. Arabs treat them every bit as poorly as they treat Jews. Israelis wholesale killing if Palestinians just adds more misery and confusion to the ME. The Israelis stole land from Palestinians for their ILLEGAL settlements on the West Bank and further displaced these people . Palestinians deserve to be given their own country and they deserve to have a FREE and open election free from Hamas (Iranian) interference. Until such an arrangement is. Are there will never be peace in the NE. Netenyahu is carelessly killing Palestinians and not concentrating on ridding the Gaza strip of Hamas. He cannot continue to throw the baby out with the bath water.
