How Has Biden Flubbed So Bad On the Border (and Why Do Dems Keep Lying to Defend His Record)

Day 1. Acting DHS Secretary David Pekoske issued a memo captioned ā€œReview of and Interim Revision to Civil Immigration Enforcement and Removal Policies and Prioritiesā€ (the Pekoske memo).

It announced a 100-day review of DHS immigration-enforcement policies, as well as a 100-day hold on nearly all removals from the United States (the latter was blocked by a federal judge and then expired).

Under the guise of ā€œlimited resourcesā€, the Pekoske memo narrowed immigration enforcement to three specified "priorities": spies, terrorists, and other threats to national security; aliens who entered illegally on or after November 1, 2020; and aliens convicted of aggravated felonies under section 101(a)(43) of the INA released from incarceration on or after the date of that memorandum.

Bidenā€™s reversals.

1/20/21 - Extends deferrals of deportation and work authorizations for Liberians with a safe haven in the United States until June 30, 2022.

1/20/21 - Halts construction of the border wall by terminating the national emergency declaration used to fund it.

1/20/21 - Undoes Trumpā€™s expansion of immigration enforcement within the United States.

1/20/21 - Reverses the Trump administrationā€™s restrictions on US entry for passport holders from seven Muslim-majority countries.

1/20/21 - Fortifies DACA after Trumpā€™s efforts to undo protections for undocumented people brought into the country as children.

2/2/21 - Rescinds Trumpā€™s memo requiring immigrants to repay the government if they receive public benefits. Elevates the role of the executive branch in promoting immigrant integration and inclusion, including reestablishing a Task Force on New Americans. Requires agencies to review immigration regulations and policies.

2/2/21 - Revokes Trumpā€™s order justifying separating families at the border and creates a task force that recommends steps to Biden to reunite separated families.

2/4/21 - Expands the United States Refugee Admissions Program and rescinds Trump policies that limited refugee admissions and required additional vetting.

2/24/21 - Revokes a Trump-era proclamation that limited legal immigration during the Covid-19 pandemic.

4/16/21 - Reverses the Trump policy banning refugees from key regions and enables flights from those regions to begin within days. Declares that the 15,000 annual refugee cap set by Trump will be raised to a number to be determined by May 15.

Non-enforcement of current laws.

The INA requires DHS to detain illegal entrants ā€” from the moment theyā€™re caught to the point theyā€™re granted immigration status or removed ā€” Biden instead released 1.129 million aliens encountered at the border through the end of June 2022. Aliens enter illegally to live and work here, and those releases allowed them to achieve that goal, encouraging more to come. It prefers to manage the chaos at the border by moving illegal migrants into the already overwhelmed immigration court system instead. Once in court (assuming they show up), those aliens can extend their illegal stays in the United States indefinitely, most by filing asylum claims.

Iā€™m sure there is more, but my final submission here is the memorandum to ICE by Mayorkas on 9/30/21. Basically states that there are ā€œmore than 11M undocumented or otherwise removable noncitizens in the U.S.ā€ States that they donā€™t have the resources to remove them. Therefore, DHS and ICE needs to use their discretion to prioritize action. The three priorities are: 1. Threat to National Security 2. Threat to public safety. 3. Threat to border security.

Itā€™s amazing to me, although it shouldnā€™t be, that no one has really responded to this. Why hasnā€™t anyone defending Bidenā€™s performance on the border addressed these points? You know, actual facts.

Therein lies my biggest problem with the left. As a moderate Republican, I have openly acknowledged reason when it comes to Trump. I have even put my money where my mouth is and voted against him twice. Why canā€™t that be a two-way street? The fact is the border is a serious problem and Biden has done nothing but make it worse. To dismiss or minimize that reality is no different than the Trump supporters who continue to deny the reality of Trumpā€™s criminal offenses.

Itā€™s bullshit.

There is no answer that would satisfy you Shawn, so why bother. I have to assume the folks in charge are doing what they think is best under the current circumstancesā€¦..,but then what would I knowā€¦.I am old. I am sure you and yours know betterā€¦ā€¦..Again my suggestion is CONGRESS do what they are supposed to do and pass an immigration law that will pass Congressional muster and get a Presidentā€™s signature. CONGRESS passes lawsā€¦.thatā€™s what they get paid to do.

Molly Tibbets? Her killer was there because a local farmer was paying him to be there Ricoā€¦..You are such a lyinā€™ pice of shit, always working the back doorā€¦where it is always dirty and smells bad, too.
He was there because he illegally entered the country. He raped and murdered Molly Tibbets and left her body to rot in a hot cornfield.

He should be the poster boy for Joe Bidens vision of America.

You're a liberal POS.

What is it you think Biden would sign that would actually be effective? He unilaterally overturned the most effective things being done by the last administration. You think congress is going to re-assert those things and Biden will sign it? Lol. Ok.

He canā€™t sign anything until it is sent his way by Congress. The fact is that most meaningful legislation is being held hostage by a handful of Congressmen. My point is putting the blame on Joe is stupid, wrong and arrogant. The President (office) does nothing more than enforce policy...and right now (and for the past 20 years) there has been no laws/policy in place so ā€œborder controlā€ is reduced to pure politics and EOs.

Just stop. There are laws and policies in place. They've decided not to enforce various laws.

You say :
ā€œborder controlā€ is reduced to pure politics and EOs.

Then why is this administration failing so badly?

And this current Administration is enforcing these ā€œlaws and policiesā€ as they see fit. They have a view of what ā€œasylumā€ is...and like it or nor Northern, those coming to the US seeking ā€œpolitical asylumā€ are NOT breaking the law as long as they register at the border.
I am no immigration specialist, and neither are you. We both get ā€œour informationā€ from sources we choose. However, in fairness I donā€™t think either side is legit when they accuse the other side of acting illegally in a criminal manner. There is no resolution to this mess until both sides (Congress) decides to find a more permanent solution. They refuse because it allows them to point fingers at the other side. If a new immigration law is ever reached, BOTH sides will have to accept some degree of accountability...and honestly, neither side wants that to happen.

And you can see the results firsthand. This adminstration has failed.
Because existing and current laws have failed. Congress needs to do its job. The controversy would be no different if Trump were ā€œin powerā€...Trump pointed his finger at Obama...and facts and numbers show, Obama and his border policies worked far more effectively than Trumpā€™s did. Northern, it seems to me that you and yours believe there was some sort of ā€œborder panaceaā€ under Trump...and that was just simply not the case.

Biden encouraged a surge to the border.

Biden reversed course on Trump EOs that were working.

Biden placed severe restrictions on deportations.

Biden gutted workplace enforcement.

Biden sues states that are trying to fill the void.

Biden is asking for legalization which only increases the surge.

This is all intentional.

You guys can all eat shit with your "we need new laws" bullshit.

Little Rico into defend his other handle.

The (disproven) theory espoused by Scrubs, yourself, and the white supremacist movement has resulted in an increase in hate crimes and even several mass shooting incidents resulting in far more deaths than one little white girl (Molly Tibbets).

And let's be honest, if she wasn't white, you wouldn't care.

You are irrelevant, bigoted trash. And you know it.
One little white girl? Good God you are an absolute piece of shit.

Kind of on topicā€¦

Had a beach picnic with some friends a few years back.

Anyway, my then 16 yr old daughter is daughter is in a bikini. Sheā€™s a good looking kid. No pics.

Anyway, totally busted one of my best friends totally checking her out. Awkwardā€¦

When youā€™re the parent of daughters itā€™s just something you have to navigate.
Wrong thread???

What has made the difference in numbers then. Why did border crossings increase 2-3x more than the previous 10 years.

If it wasn't biden, what was it?

Which laws, specifically, are not being enforced?

You won't answer. You never do answer a direct question in a direct manner because you're a coward.

But itā€™s been especially worse in recent years. Can you at least admit that?

Problems tend to get worse when nothing is done about them, so yeah, and it will continue to get worse regardless of who wins in 2024.

It doesn't matter how many times we answer their questions. They just keep asking them over and over. I bet I've posted a dozen times about the Biden Administration placing severe restrictions on who ICE can deport and also the adminstration gutting workplace enforcement raids. I've provided links countless times.

They don't care.

Why does Congress need to pass a law? The current laws aren't being enforced. Do you really think a new law will be any different? The only thing Congress should do is increase funding for immigration courts and start processing illegal immigrants in a timely fashion.

No, it doesn't. You listed what changed. He's saying there are laws not being enforced.

You don't answer direct questions directly. And then you lie and say you do. It's your MO. That and being incredibly ignorant.

What laws, specifically, are not being enforced?

Resources not being unlimited, not every piece of legislation on the books can be enforced to the full extent of the law. Because of this each administration decides how and to what extent they choose to enforce compliance,... In this case Biden has taken a mostly hands off approach.

How about sending the military to the border to turn these people away.

The solution is to post a No Vacancy sign at the border, please turn around and go somewhere else.

We don't need to be processing anymore - we need to be sending those who entered illegally back, we need to send those who are awaiting a court date in a couple of years back.

Um, laws that say illegals should be detained until their due process is resolved.

Why are you being intentionally obtuse? Is it like some sort of personal sport for you?
What law is that? You're making a very important claim, back it up. I know of no law that says those seeking asylum must be detained until their hearings. There very well could be such a law - show me.
