I can’t believe a school like Creighton has more wealthy donors than Iowa?
Not necessarily, but what donors they do have don’t have to support football.
Even if they don’t, imagine if even a quarter of football NIL money were allocated for basketball on top of what basketball already has.
They could have 1/3 the NIL budget of Iowa athletics, and have 4 times the NIL for basketball.
It makes a lot of sense.
We waste our NIL money on football where we are competing against teams we have no hope of catching up to. Should spend 15 mill on bball. That could get a natty. 15 mill in football gets you 9-4.
Football takes 80% of NIL.... The Bluejays men's team probably gets 95% of NIL.
You know what tuition is to that school? Takes wealth to go to school there.
The owner of the Chicago Cubs is a Creighton alumn. Kind of like Nebraska's version of Northwestern.
Get ready for alot of Big East teams getting alot of really good players. They are projected to spend 7-10 million of revenue sharing and most will go to Mens basketball, where Iowa has maybe 2-3 million. No football at most BIG East schools means more $ for Basketball.
Nebraska football fans are Creighton basketball fans. That's how.
Ever been to there Arena. Sold out games and lots of $ I would love it if IOWA had a arena like that. Nebraska and Creighton arenas are very nice. They call the Creighton fans Jayskers, Nebraska football fans and Creighton basketball .
BB only schools have huge NIL advantage.
Probably the wealthiest fanbase in the country. Lots of doctors and Berkshire Hathaway millionaires in the Omaha area.
I've been saying from the beginning of this new professional era of power conference mens bball that multiple big East teams are positioned very well.
Yes, football brings in the vast majority of dollars for B1G and SEC. At the same time it sucks up the vast majority of dollars in expenses.
Big east men's bball is THE big dog on their campuses (uconn women obviously get a lot of attention, but the men have multiple national titles so it's clearly not hurting them).
Not that surprising when Men’s College Bball is their only priority, while it’s #4 at Iowa.
They sure know how to wisely invest their money. Let’s spend millions of dollars on 2 guys who have led their team to (checks notes) 0 NCAA tournament wins.

Good job for creighton I suppose. Both players are good but both have not really won anything significant. Well they did win that Washington state game in the quad cities

THIS! I guarantee you the BMC will get more players and more out of those players for the $3M that Creighton coughed up two players that have only proven they can play half of the game... It'll be interesting to see how they play defense.

Don’t know if Mark Walter is a basketball fan, but he went to Creighton. He is the principal owner of the LA Dodgers. Also a graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson
My cousin is Creighton grad and is a partner in one of the largest law firms in KC. Those are their bread and butter grads which have a decent amount of money.

There's some wealth at Creighton but it's not even in the ballpark with the really rich private schools.
Basketball is the only major show, there's no football to soak up any athletic giving. When I was there soccer was huge. No idea if that's true or not. Even if players cost, it can't be very much.
And as someone else stated, Nebraska fans are exclusively Creighton/Kansas fans for basketball. At least they were when I lived there. Since they actually made a few tournaments they seem to at least have some interest now but I imagine thats a day to day relationship. Also of note, without looking I'd guarantee their attendance for basketball smashed Iowa this year.
