How United States politics really works...

Now they are. They weren't before the 1992 elections.
Already backing away from your libertarian principles? Governing is hard isn't it? Lots more compromise may be required. Gird your loins, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Now they are. They weren't before the 1992 elections.

I'm fine with debates sponsored by the taxpayer. But I'm a liberal. I'm happy to spend some of the public treasury's money to hold a debate in which participants are selected by petition. I'm also concerned about how we'll prevent political racketeers from skewing those debates.

You see enemies behind every rock. Take out that windmill, it's really a giant in disguise. More of the same, LOL. Fools like you is how we get Lenins. Only the most radical will satisfy your need for vengeance. Pure folly, you would destroy civilization just to prove we're uncivilized.

It is fun that you want the FDA to protect us from industry. There might be hope for you yet.
Ummm...your guys are doing a pretty good job right now in the ME, Ukraine and other spots. I here Damascus is lovely this time of year. You should visit.

No. I don't want the FDA protecting us. I see it for what it is...a protection racket for Big Pharma. I thought you were for the little guy. Snockered gain, ehh?

Actually, the Bolsheviks were put in power by the same people who fund the R's & D's. My God, it sure is easy debating 8 year olds.

You realize the Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank, right?

Very well aware. And still not shitting my pants over it. You should google "arguments FOR the federal reserve." They won't all convince you, but if you became more aware of the argument maybe you wouldn't be so dismissive of the public.

What's your alternative to the FDA? A libertarian think-tank where people volunteer to do drugs?? That was my dormitory floor, but we never tried anything that was supposed to combat already-diagnosed (by the govt) stage IV (by govt standards) cancer.

How is bitcoin not a part of that competition? It's not manipulated by any government. I'm not on the bitcoin train, but I don't understand your opposition to it.
I just think it is a medium of exchange right now. i just don't think that it is in common enough use to be called money. Time will tell.

That's fair, but money = currency = "medium of exchange." Like you, I still have more faith in the dollar. For now. And like other currencies, you can trade bitcoin for dollars. In this country. If you're so worried about the private banking cartels which manipulate our dollar, I suggest you check out digital currencies like bitcoin. Decentralized, for now. Until private banking cartels figure them out. Death and taxes, dude.

Since legal drugs kill more people than illegal drugs, I guess just eliminate it and replace with nothing.

If it ever gets enough traction, the Fed will shut it down like they did to NORFED dollars.

That doesn't sound too simple. You're smarter than that.
Legal Drugs Kill Far More Than Illegal, Florida Says

By DAMIEN CAVEJUNE 14, 2008
  • MIAMI — From “Scarface” to “Miami Vice,” Florida’s drug problem has been portrayed as the story of a single narcotic: cocaine. But for Floridians, prescription drugs are increasingly a far more lethal habit.

An analysis of autopsies in 2007 released this week by the Florida Medical Examiners Commission found that the rate of deaths caused by prescription drugs was three times the rate of deaths caused by all illicit drugs combined.

Law enforcement officials said that the shift toward prescription-drug abuse, which began here about eight years ago, showed no sign of letting up and that the state must do more to control it.

“You have health care providers involved, you have doctor shoppers, and then there are crimes like robbing drug shipments,” said Jeff Beasley, a drug intelligence inspector for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which co-sponsored the study. “There is a multitude of ways to get these drugs, and that’s what makes things complicated.”

The report’s findings track with similar studies by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, which has found that roughly seven million Americans are abusing prescription drugs. If accurate, that would be an increase of 80 percent in six years and more than the total abusing cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, Ecstasy and inhalants.

The Florida report analyzed 168,900 deaths statewide. Cocaine, heroin and all methamphetamines caused 989 deaths, it found, while legal opioids — strong painkillers in brand-name drugs like Vicodin and OxyContin — caused 2,328.

How does the Fed shut down digital currency? The US government did lock up the guy allegedly behind Silk Road, but digital currency hasn't slowed down. Is the Fed going to use the US gov to arrest everyone trading with digital currency?

I'm aware of it. I've read books on it. It still isn't a good enough reason to give a private banking cartel carte blanche to steal from poor people.

My correction. NORFED was not digital. But, a competitor who could not be tolerated.

It would be awesome to see innovation do an end-run around the FED.

Literally everyone knows that abuse of prescription opiates and benzos kill more people than cannabis, cocaine, acid, mushrooms, mescaline, dmt, ibogaine, and whip-its.

Hold up here. Don't you hold to an ideology that would make all this legal? You do this all the time. You point out a problem in the world and act like that's a reason to double down.

Metals have been used in the past because of their value and malleable ability. I don't think it would HAVE to be metals, it's just that they seem to be the easiest work with.

Which is why the ones which are now mostly obsolete in industry are still the most valuable.

Who owns your body? You or the government? You have the right to ingest into your body anything you want...as long as you don't do harm to anyone else. The FDA harms people. Just listen to the drug commercials. A 30 second spot turns into an 18 second disclaimer on how it will result in death. The FDA drives up prices and makes war on people selling natural health. Oh...and for the benefit of their paymasters. Not difficult.

And you want to double down and let drug companies sell anything to anyone at any price. The current system could never compete with the misery you want to unleash on us.
