He has a knack for distorting truth. The central tenet of libertarianism is the non-aggression principle (NAP). Yet , he gets all cuddly with the Republicrats that have killed 20 million since WW2. He has the flipping nads to say so without a smiley after the sentence.
When you have taken that power, doesn't that give you the power to unleash force on others, which you eschew?
The evil ones love to mix truth with the lies. It's what makes their lies so effective. Take a brutal truth, mix in some exaggerations and mistruths, and use it to fuel the angst needed to provide for motivated madness. I'm down with NAP.
Ask him, how it makes sense for someone to give power to others to commit murder, when in fact those people handing out that power can't do the same without breaking the law. It stumps them every time.
Well, don't feel too bad when I find another self-ascribed liberal that disagrees with deriding a person for their choice for political candidate.

Natural, you really should stick with fighting with your "conservative" nemesis. It serves you better. When you start trying to defend this herd mentality and "This way is always right and that way is always wrong" with people who have sort of transcended that philosophy, you come-off sounding as crystallized and regressive as your "con" arch-enemy. You start to discredit your own display of what you convey as Liberal. You two "teams" are too busy looking to get credit for things, and NEEDING that credit, instead of being more concerned with doing what's right. You rarely do anything at all except call one another names. That's a fun game... if you're 6. It wasn't even that fun then, for me.
Do you own a mirror? If this were true, you would be trying to convince me. I only need point to the scoreboard. My path leads to points, yours doesn't.
I'm not keeping score to some illusionary game. It's amazing how we evolve as a race in spite of people being preoccupied with that.
Pick the issue. What impacts the circumstance most effectively? Aligning yourself with a political team and working in the system towards resolution or railing at cogs? Cogs get stuff done. Snowflakes just muck up the gears.
Man, I'm all for getting results. If you think you get them by playing politics and arguing with conservatives? great!
Your deriding people like me, or the others here, who are almost identical in how we perceive human rights and conditions, isn't helping you get results. And, deriding "cons" as being inferior isn't changing their mind either. You just make them dig in deeper.
And, insisting that people like me and prime, nat, nolesoup, are not doing anything, or getting results, because our methods differ from yours is your opinion.

Its not opinion. I can point to the laws and policies both libs and cons get passed. You can't point to a thing you fence sitters get done. Wake up, reality is not on your side.

I'll comment on your game as much as I want. You think you're getting things done. I think you're being played. Reality is clearly subjective.

I see that the differences is that you just haven't realized how little control you actually have.
Scoreboard. You list the laws you passed and I'll list mine. I bet you can't produce even one. If you want to do something about the environment, worker safety, education, or any other issue you need to aline yourself with a D or an R. It's not ideological or subjective, it's simply the lay of the land.
Yap all you like, but don't complain about others commenting about your yapping.

The people who own and run this show, at the expense of masses like you who think you have a say in it by aligning themselves with these "sides", are creating policies and conditions that will appease you just enough to still allow them to profit the most. THAT is empirical... literally, in some cases! You get privileges at their discretion. If it helps to bullshit yourself into thinking you're having some impact based on these elections, votes, and political "scores", as you prefer to call it, then be my guest.
The stat sheet doesn't have you on it! So, whatever the score happens to be, you didn't have anything to do with it. When you play a rigged game, you get rigged results. Now, you can go ahead and tell yourself that you're getting it done, but your game is rigged. Whatever is "passed" is simply allowed!
It has worked wonders. Open your eyes. Life is good and just to an enormous degree. You focus too much on the negative while ignoring everything we do right.
Calling it appeasement doesn't make it less real. It's still a win. Now point to your win. One policy you got changed in a way you like? Can you name even one success that would convince anyone you found a better path for delivering solutions?
And yet it still beats your solution where nothing is allowed. Scoreboard. You can't escape the truth. At the end of all this yapping only I offer solutions while you tilt at windmills.
If that's the central tenet of libertarianism, then no one should ever listen to any libertarians. For self-evident reasons.

Do you honestly believe that the ideas of people like me, that share my perspective (and yours) have not been heard? Appeasement is appeasement. I don't think we live in a tyrannical fascism, no. But, I also know that this political game is rigged. If you think you're winning at a rigged game, then that's your reality.
I have found MY path. I don't have to convince anyone else of that path.
We're these posts you keep making meant to be private? Your actions keep betraying you.
Recognizing that there are inequities in the politics is very different from recognizing that there are inequities in politics and then believing that willing participants are too stupid to see it (or even part of the problem). If your answer is that the system prevents meaningful changes, then I expect you to either take up arms or give up. Or, I expect pretend that you're smarter and more-insightful than all participants. And if you choose the last route, I reserve the right to mock you for being full of shit (pseudo-intellectual, false bravado, mock indignation, whatever other terms you like for "full of shit").
