There are two schools of thought. Yes, the protruding rudder does increase maneuverability in aquatic environments but at the cost of added drag. We'll see how this pays off for the young competitor.

So I caught the last episode of " Naked and Afraid " a couple of weeks ago. For those unfamiliar, this reality show involves 2 complete strangers dropped of in a remote locale, naked, with 3 survival tools of their choosing, the goal is to survive for 21 days in the wilderness and then be picked up to celebrate their triumph over nature. Oh did I mention the two naked strangers are of the opposite sex? In the opening sequence, they always disrobe separately, they then walk through jungle and meet for the first time to exchange introductions, compare tools, secure their maps and make a plan for survival. In this episode the unsuspecting male from South Africa pops out of the bush to meet his female partner, who has transitioned, at least partly, to the female she identifies as. Granted, she has a decent set of tits, but is also hung like a mule. ( I assume, it was pixelated ). The look on the poor South African's face said it all, but he was woke and quickly accepted his partner.
Many times in previous shows, survivalists are forced to cuddle at night to persevere body heat in the 45 degree desert nocturnal environment. Sometimes this can be problematic for couples whose marriage partners are back home, usually the females are reluctant to cuddle with the male contestants. In this episode we never found out as the S. African guy got overcome with heat on day 2, passed out and smacked his skull on a rock and was medically evacuated. To her credit she managed to struggle on without her male partner for all 21 days before hiking to her extraction point.
Unfortunately she was unable to take her hormone injections during the 21 days so her tits fell off and her beard grew back but she survived...
