Huge win

Haven't paid enough attention elsewhere to know where they'll be ranked. Huge win though. Statistically speaking, this will be the equivalent of winning at UNC last year. Only wins that could be better will be at MSU and at Maryland.

That was a GREAT win. The second half is by far the best that Jok and Sapp have played in their careers, after sucking in the first half. Another very good game overall for Uthoff and Gesell. Woody can't dunk, but he played a outstanding defensive game. Uhl's best game, and maybe the beginning of a very good career. I don't know what to say about Baer. He is one of the smartest players I have ever seen, and I have been watching BB for a long time. He makes Iowa a much better team. GO HAWKS!

That was one of the guttiest 2nd halves I have ever seen. They straight up, as a team, gave everything they had defensively and Purdue couldn't match it.

That is one of the best comebacks by a Hawk team I have ever watched. They straight up willed themselves to that win.

F'ing phenomenal.

I'm a little worried about the layoff after Nebraska on the 5th. We don't play until @Michigan State on the 14th. Michigan State plays on the 7th and 10th. Very strange scheduling.

After seeing the most embarrassing Rose Bowl in my life, which is a tall order given Iowa's Rose bowl history under Fry, this is salve.

I can't believe these guys did what they just did this past week...I'm on the Baer wagon.

What a phenomenal comeback! So proud of the fight these guys showed in the 2nd, esp. w/ the refs doing their best to give it to Purdue. Iowa will be ranked #15 when the new rankings come out, I predict.

HUUUUGGGGGEEEEE win...and on the road against a great team.

Takes some pain out of that Cyclone loss...sharing it with someone else...no better place to put it than on Purdue.

If the Nebraska game is as physical as this one was, then we might need it.

Reminded me of the Iowa at Illinois game with Marble, Armstrong, etc. our guys just shut them down in the second half on defense and once Purdue burned their last timeout Iowa went for the throat. It was awesome to watch. I hope these guys really start believing in themselves because they have the ability to put up points AND play defense. Fran said it....they were not tough enough in the first half but they certainly were in the second. Don't relax boys....keep attacking. Great job and great win. Almost everyone that stepped on the court had a great second half. Take care of business at home on Tuesday!!!! Hopefully a full house.

The MSU win was big, IMO this one is a better win. Going to look very nice on the resume come selection time. The ISU loss was a very bad way to lose a game, I think in the long run it may pay huge dividends though. This team is really showing toughness that we have not seen in quite some time in Iowa basketball.

Disagree. I think the layoff comes at a very good time. It prevents NB from being a trap game as there is the layoff right after it, and it allows Sapp to heal from his injury.

That is the best officiated game that Iowa has gotten at Mackey Area in the 40 years I have watched Iowa basketball. We have had some nightmare games in the past. Hawks were tough as nails. Just need to do a little better at free throws down the stretch.

And you're being sarcastic too which is why it's funny....;)

I didn't get to see the missed over and back call or the other phantom foul that was said to have occurred.

It's so much fun to see kids play all out like the Hawks did in the second half. THAT'S what the game is all about, and that's all Hawkeye fans ask. Just go out there and dive for loose balls, battle for every rebound, and never give up. It has taken a LONG time for this bunch to figure it out, but maybe they finally get it. Play hard, like your life depends on it, and it's a helluva lot more fun and gives you a much better chance to win.

The Hawks were flyin' all over that court in the second half. Jok, Clemmons, everybody. It was AWESOME. More, please.

I don't recall ever seeing a team run out of timeouts that early in the second half of a contested game...credit to Iowa's lock down press and trap game.

Me either. And the Boilermakersbadly needed those TO's at least twice in the last 5 minutes.

I thought the same thing. I think it was around the 9 minute mark or somewhere in there. I don't recall ever seeing that either.

Fran had the luxury of kind of "letting Purdue bleed out" with no timeouts left...best coaching I can recall from Fran...well done...Baer was in there when it counted. The trap game stymied Purdue to no end.

Baer sure seems to tire quickly...I wonder if he is recovering from the flu a bit right now...he is without a doubt the best "sickly" looking player I have ever seen. And I mean that with a lot of respect...

A Huge and unexpected win...for sure...one of the best ever.

I was thinking the very same thing as the game wound down.

Nice to have some of those demons chased from the past of MG and others...good for them...
