I am not optimistic for next season with none or one and done Fran.

So Keegan and Kris play like guards, but they don’t count as guards when they’re on the floor with at least two other guards?

Fran the last 3 years especially has relied on the small ball lineup, with just one big (or none) on the court at a time.
You’re talking about the past when I’m talking about the future.

Addressing the supposed small-ball stuff - I don’t consider what he’s doing true small ball. He’s basically just playing without a center. The McCafferys, Sandfort, Murrays, etc, aren’t guards.

I was comfortable playing Keegan and Kris at the same time - but a championship coach would have played them with 3 really good guards.

We managed what, 4 quad one victories out of those 16 and 2 of those were in the BTT. Stop the presses…

This team has the opportunity to play a lot more games in the regular season than a couple of decades ago so the 2nd most victories ever crowd rings very hollow too.
Not really a legit take (my opinion only).....just another way to try and discount the number of wins this Fran coached Iowa team actually won. How about this....they had the second most in total wins of any team in the B10 with only Purdue having more. This team was really good, really well coached, they just had an off shooting game against their first round NCAA opponent. It sucks, but it happens to a lot of teams.......

If playing without a legit big man isn’t playing small ball I don’t know what to say. Kris and Keegan often played the 5 position. I think we had several good guards, we just fell short in one game.

Next year we add two more good guards imo. No idea what to expect at this point without knowing who we add or lose via transfer.

It’s always a tough bind in the b10. REALLY hard to play a small ball lineup as your primary option and finish top 4 in the conference, but that lineup is probably better suited for the non conference and postseason.

Keegan and Kris belong on the floor in any scheme - they play like guards the way they can handle the ball. Tyler was suited as a center. Preferably you find 3 or 4 good guards to surround them with. We play too many lineups with 3 or 4 forwards instead of 3 or 4 guards
So, the twins aren't slow-footed? And Cook was a center at 6-7?

Using your qualifiers, this year’s team won more games than any Iowa Team in the last 20 years while playing a 20 game B10 schedule. Does that ring hollow? Yet you continue to disparage the players and coaches repeatedly and others claim this program has plateaued.

um, Iowa had both of those in their favor this year.

Really we had the 1st or even 2nd ranked recruiting classes the last 2 years…. How did I miss this ?
The original response I was replying to was: success in March being about matchups and being hit I March. We had “both of those” going for us this year, thus “both of those”.
if you are going to try and be a smart ass at least be smart.

He's not alone.

They have been waiting since early February for Iowa to eff up. If you look at their posting history, most have no posts after wins except to bitch about who played over whom, and lots of criticism after the few losses. The B1G tournament must have been excruciating for them.
