I guess the coach knows what he’s doing

That, ladies and gentlemen was one of the greatest performances by any player wearing a Hawkeye uniform. Ever. And some of you cannot enjoy it. We may never see this again in our lifetimes.
I like your thinking but just a couple of games ago there was a gal named C. Clark who had a better game wearing a Hawkeye uniform. Am I correct? More points, more rebounds, more assists and steals.

How about Justin Johnson against Indy 29 points 18 in the last 2 min - but couldn't pull off the win 8 of 13 from 3

Hope it’s not a one and done.

Having a “consistent” outside shot would be huge down the stretch and he’s been no where near consistent this year. Possible slump breaker game? Fingers crossed.

I’m old enough to remember Freddy Brown and John Johnson. Wonder what they would have averaged had they been lucky enough to have a 3 point line. They put on some shooting performances in their day.

And people are still mad? That’s cool, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I thought this would be the one night, after an incredible offensive performance(the defense went completely sideways the final 5 minutes)that we would give the petty nonsense a rest.

We shall see. One game doesn't mean much. He usually has one or two great shooting games a year against the bottom feeders.

Same thing against Northwestern last year. Meant nothing in the long run against the good teams.

Hes still going to struggle to get decent looks against the good teams so he better make the 2 or 3 open shots a game he gets.
This is completely accurate, but for tonight it sure was fun watching him drop bombs all over the turtles . To see pre surgery JBO having some fun again was pretty cool 😎

Yes I'll complain about a couple f***ing heat check wasted possessions because he's good for 4 or 5 of those a game if not more.....in most every other game.

Do it against Oregon in the 2nd Rd of the NCAA tourney. Not Maryland in a random B10 regular season game.

How bout that...................not so ridiculous now is it.
No it still is…wow

I don’t sense anyone being mad but after his first 22 games there are skeptics of what #3 will bring to each game from here on out. More of last night would be huge and I believe everyone would love to see it. I don’t expect the scale of what he delivered last night every game but something trending towards that and not the PSU game would cool. We’ll find out I guess.

I'll take what he did tonight.....minus the heat check bull sh** shots.

Imagine how much better his shooting % alone would be if he didn't just randomly heave up some garbage a** shot early in the clock for no reason other than to see if the f***ing shot will go in.

It's one thing if he does that against North Carolina A&T..............but he does it EVERY F***ING GAME.

And you can not do that against good teams, let alone the multiple times he does it to try and shoot himself out of slumps he gets in.

It's wasted and empty possessions. Essentially a turnover on the stat sheet.

If he could figure it out, or humble himself enough, or whatever the f*** he needs to do to NEVER.......take a shot like that again........the team would thank him. His coaches would thank him. The whole world would f***ing thank him, but I included those other two first because maybe he'd listen to reason if he knew it would benefit and BETTER his team if he didn't waste possessions just throwing up a shot from anywhere to see if it will go in after he made one f***ing 3 earlier.

It's not that big of an ask.
what a tool you are

maybe Blair needs another header for the negative crowd only---lounge/fball/bball/black cloud.

most people have friends/wives/dogs they can bitch to, they do not have to come on here behind a screen and do it...

It does get tiring. After any win, the Fran supporters get their I told you so moment, after every loss the detractors get their moment. I'm happy this team found a way to win 2 games they needed to get, now they get to play Nebraska and keep it going.

What I like
Rebraca has seemed to find a baseline level of consistency/competence.
Keeg. Murray has taken the attitude he is going to be the aggressor, he's going to go to the hoop, initiate contact.
The starting lineup with Tony P allows Bohannon to not defend the opponent's biggest guard and has seemed to get Bohannon out of the shooting slump.
Patrick McC has been much more consistent with his offense and what is a good shot. Had a few not go in against Maryland, but the one-footed floaters are out. Squared up jumpers are in.
Sandfordt plays with confidence.

What has me concerned
Defense overall was not real good. Intensity was lacking in second half, but giving up 87 points in a 72 possession game to an offensively challenged team - not good.
What will Iowa's defense be like against Michigan and MSU? We have seen defensive improvement against some teams. What happens when the level of competition again goes up?

It's why the season is fun. Team has put itself into a spot where a decent finish, and pick off at least 1 game against MSU, Michigan, Illinois, OSU most clearly gets them in the tournament. That is a good thing.

We need home-cooking to really get over the hump now.
Neb is coming off their 1st win feeling good.
Keep it going Hawks!

Sticking with JBO through this long slump. If JBO has it in gear and just shoots like he shot most of his career (doesn’t have to shoot like tonight) for the rest of the season…that improves our prospects immensely for the stretch run.
He had a great game. No doubt about that. It was his first game in 2 months that he exceeded 13 points. Maybe wait a few more games to claim that Fran's patience was validated.

This is commonplace IMO. One team reaches a 25-30 point 2nd half lead against a clearly inferior opponent and then relaxes a bit on defense as the game is essentially decided. I believe the players understand that wins against Michigan and MSU will require greater sustained defensive intensity.

Live by the 3 pointer, die by the 3 pointer.
purdue shoots 41% on 3’s for yr, goes 4-18 from 3 at Michigan and gets wiped out….

I enjoyed Jobo last night, I appreciate JoBo for being native Iowan and his records.

question, Is this sustainable? Is this repeatable?

when jobo is ‘on’ IOWA can beat anyone
when Jobo is not, like last year vs Gonzaga, Oregon, ILlinois in the BTT, IOWA gets beaten, badly.

would you bet the farm on Jobo being ‘on’ in the next game?

Of all people Connor needs to quiet down on social media especially after making a fool out of himself after the Wisconsin game. Minus very very few haters all Iowa fans were ecstatic with Jbo and Iowa's effort last night. That being said to say the criticism wasn't warranted for his performance in Big 10 play is just untrue. If anyone watched the BTN post game show even the guys on there brought this up how disconnected he's been in conference play and how poorly he's shot the ball.

Last night ironically reminded me of the Maryland football game where after one game people were like see what Petras can do. But many on here were like that was great but lets string some more consistent performances together before we point the finger and say I told you so. Hoping this was the match that lit the fuse last night. Not expecting games like last night but if we can get games of a couple 3s a game hovering around 50% or just under that will be great moving forward.

Yeah - Nothing like insulting your own fan base.......This type of stuff is why people aren't big on Fran or Connor for that matter......It's really off putting.......

Would love to see JBo go off against Purdue or IL or OSU.....you know, NOT one of the bottom 3 teams in the league.....

It is foolish to knee-jerk react to one game, positively or negatively.

With that said, the talk has always been that Fran's teams start to fade in February. I hope this is a sign that Iowa is going to start peaking as we approach March. They will need JBo to play well if they hope to make any noise whatsoever.

Hopefully, last night is foreshadowing things to come. If PMac and JBo can emerge as second and third scoring options to complement Keegan, then this team might surprise people come tourney time.

Ah nice back to Twitter hating on the fans….I predict L’s coming. Usually Frans teams love to get distracted by this kind of stuff….
No - just the one's who take this so seriously that they have to troll social media to attack the players. What he did was stupid and will just enrage and engage that crowd. But I get it too - at some point it's tiring to see a teammate of yours get ripped up and down.

i think he’s just as mad at the critics of his father’s coaching, meaning so many questions about JBo playing time?

That should really help fill Carver Sunday. God that kid sucks
He sucks for sticking up for his friend over an anonymous middle aged message boarder? LOL, this is where we really need to think about WHO actually sucks. I get upset about playing time, and how Jbo has performed, but some of you are truly idiots. Connor is accurate.

Twitter is what you make it. Connor should know better considering he's older than half the players on the Chicago Bulls

connor absolutely should know better. So should Fran. If that tweet is still out there, it tells you a lot about whether either one cares.

Well they ARE playing Nebraska and I don't own a farm, so define "on". Based on this season so far, it's more likely that he scores less than 15 on less than 50% shooting. The odds say that Jbo won't have another game like last night this year, but then again they don't need that. What they need is consistently good, efficient play. That's what's been lacking this year.

Or understand that the evidence is that this two months is actually an anomaly in his career? I'm not suggesting he's going to come out and hit 10 3s a game from here on out, but there does seem to be a reason that the high level offensive coach we have has shown the faith he has in Jordan...and probably the need to get him back on track and out of that slump?
