I guess the coach knows what he’s doing

I'm starting to think a whole lot of people are sitting on a stack of Joe T signed 8x10's and seeing their little plan for profit going up in smoke? Just mind blowing. I don't remember there being an uproar last year when JBo sat almost the entire 2nd half against Gonzaga and Joe T went off? Where was JBo! The team lost so nobody cared who didn't get minutes.

Of all people Connor needs to quiet down on social media especially after making a fool out of himself after the Wisconsin game. Minus very very few haters all Iowa fans were ecstatic with Jbo and Iowa's effort last night. That being said to say the criticism wasn't warranted for his performance in Big 10 play is just untrue. If anyone watched the BTN post game show even the guys on there brought this up how disconnected he's been in conference play and how poorly he's shot the ball.

Last night ironically reminded me of the Maryland football game where after one game people were like see what Petras can do. But many on here were like that was great but lets string some more consistent performances together before we point the finger and say I told you so. Hoping this was the match that lit the fuse last night. Not expecting games like last night but if we can get games of a couple 3s a game hovering around 50% or just under that will be great moving forward.
I get what you might be saying here BUT: If you were Connor and people were saying the derogatory remarks
about him and teammates would you quiet down?
It works both ways for all of us.
Like I really like Catlin Clark but she is over the top for me.
She in my opinion needs to dial it back some. But I don't make remarks about her doing that

First, that was a pretty bad coaching job by Manning. First time in a long time, he wasn't faceguarded and fouled all game.

Second, shooters are finicky. I'm guessing some shooters like Jbo need to touch the ball, feel the rhythm of the game - before going off.

Yeah - Nothing like insulting your own fan base.......This type of stuff is why people aren't big on Fran or Connor for that matter......It's really off putting.......

Would love to see JBo go off against Purdue or IL or OSU.....you know, NOT one of the bottom 3 teams in the league.....
Do you think the comments/insults from the fan base are ok for the players on the team?

Or understand that the evidence is that this two months is actually an anomaly in his career? I'm not suggesting he's going to come out and hit 10 3s a game from here on out, but there does seem to be a reason that the high level offensive coach we have has shown the faith he has in Jordan...and probably the need to get him back on track and out of that slump?
Or understand that 13 games over 2 months is more of an indicator of what's likely to come next than what occurred on one night? Jbo has been below average to bad for much of the year. As much as you'd like to believe it, one night doesn't change all of that, no matter how good it was. Hopefully he can string some good games together and show that Fran's faith in his play is justified. Fran's going to play him 30+ regardless of how he plays so everyone better hope he does.

And half the age of the guys bashing Jbo. Irony?
Both sides look dumb. If you are a public person and you interact with commenters on twitter and base your overall opinions on those idiots, you look just as dumb as the 48 year old anonymous mouth breathers

Sticking with JBO through this long slump. If JBO has it in gear and just shoots like he shot most of his career (doesn’t have to shoot like tonight) for the rest of the season…that improves our prospects immensely for the stretch run.

So you admit fran was wrong, i.e. made a mistake thinking JBO could thrive at the 2G without the ball in his hands?

I hope Bohannon shoots like in the Maryland game the rest of the year, fun to watch.

Good point in regards to the OP, if Fran knows exactly what he is doing based on last night, then what was the plan up to last nights game? is that conserved not knowing what he is doing?

The offense was a thing of beauty last night, Keegan can do it all, fun to watch. Fran definitely instills offensive confidence for the whole team.

You can call it an admission if you like, but obviously that effort didn't work as expected. A smart coach would certainly think that a prolific outside shooter would thrive at the shooting guard position....and then good coaches make changes when that doesn't work.....what's your point?

You think this is a haha, gotcha moment on Fran? Wow, my experience with competition in sports is limited to high school, but it seems like an obvious (common sense) that you adapt, adjust, and evolve to help you team win. Isn't that what we expect our coaches to do?

Certainly that is an extended streak...but it isn't one night either. Did you watch the Virginia game? When you add them up, over the course of JBO's career, the last two months are anomaly....Are we guaranteed that he will continue to shoot at a high level the rest of the year? No, of course not. Common sense is important.

Iowa got lucky with the schedule this year for once. The back half of the B1G schedule is loaded with bottom feeders. Here's hoping all these games against PSU, Nebby, Maryland, Minny, Northwestern and to a lesser extent Michigan help Iowa find an identity and improve against the top 6-7 in conference as well as tourney teams. Not sure what to make of Iowa right now. They look good against the bottom feeders, so-so against the middle of the conference and a big step below the top 6 of the conference. I think the Michigan games will be interesting to see where this team really is.

Common sense is absolutely important. It's common sense not to see one game and declare that he's going to play that way going forward as opposed to what we've seen most of the year. Frankly, this discussion is stupid, like most discussions on this topic. He had a spectacular night last night but it was one great game. Nothing more, nothing less. Hopefully it turns into something more and you can go on and on about how everyone was wrong about Jbo getting 30+ per game because of the great finish he had while leading the team to a lot of victories. That would be awesome.

Live by the 3 pointer, die by the 3 pointer.
purdue shoots 41% on 3’s for yr, goes 4-18 from 3 at Michigan and gets wiped out….

I enjoyed Jobo last night, I appreciate JoBo for being native Iowan and his records.

question, Is this sustainable? Is this repeatable?

when jobo is ‘on’ IOWA can beat anyone
when Jobo is not, like last year vs Gonzaga, Oregon, ILlinois in the BTT, IOWA gets beaten, badly.

would you bet the farm on Jobo being ‘on’ in the next game?
JBo hung 20 points and 6 assists against Illinois in the BTT last year. If you're going to damn him with faint praise, at least get your facts rights.

That, ladies and gentlemen was one of the greatest performances by any player wearing a Hawkeye uniform. Ever. And some of you cannot enjoy it. We may never see this again in our lifetimes.
Well maybe, or just watch Clark do her thing every night for the womens team! Just poking fun! Great game by Jbo, oh and that other guy, Murray was it? ;)

Sorry to everyone who liked this, BUT Coach REALLY needs to get his offspring under control on this twitter shit. How many times have we seen players addressing fans on social media, and even once has this been a good idea? I think not. Fans being right, wrong or indifferent, this is a NO win scenario for players going down this road.....

It does get tiring. After any win, the Fran supporters get their I told you so moment, after every loss the detractors get their moment. I'm happy this team found a way to win 2 games they needed to get, now they get to play Nebraska and keep it going.

What I like
Rebraca has seemed to find a baseline level of consistency/competence.
Keeg. Murray has taken the attitude he is going to be the aggressor, he's going to go to the hoop, initiate contact.
The starting lineup with Tony P allows Bohannon to not defend the opponent's biggest guard and has seemed to get Bohannon out of the shooting slump.
Patrick McC has been much more consistent with his offense and what is a good shot. Had a few not go in against Maryland, but the one-footed floaters are out. Squared up jumpers are in.
Sandfordt plays with confidence.

What has me concerned
Defense overall was not real good. Intensity was lacking in second half, but giving up 87 points in a 72 possession game to an offensively challenged team - not good.
What will Iowa's defense be like against Michigan and MSU? We have seen defensive improvement against some teams. What happens when the level of competition again goes up?

It's why the season is fun. Team has put itself into a spot where a decent finish, and pick off at least 1 game against MSU, Michigan, Illinois, OSU most clearly gets them in the tournament. That is a good thing.
I think the score in the second half led to Iowa REALLY backing off any real effort the last 5 or 6 minutes. We were up like 35 points and they hit a bunch of bombs late to make it look closer. Fran pulled the starters and Ash did what he always does when he comes in and starting throwing up those Grandma Moses shot put looking shots. Its really hard to critique the second half the way we blew their doors off in the first three quarters of the game.

First off NOTHING Cmac says on twitter will have a positive outcome, NOTHING. We've seen this movie several times before. Fran really needs to go KF here and shut that shit down, but he won't. As for Clark, I'm not sure what your getting at, But its the swagger she carries herself with that makes her fearless. She has people who've NEVER watched a womens game tuning in to see her play, which means their watching IOWA play. NBA guys are following her games, which means IOWA'S game. Hell Kevin Durant was talking up freaking Iowa womens basketball on his podcast! This surely isn't a bad thing......

I realize he's apparently a great teammate, and fan favorite, but watching him shoot makes me think I still have D1 run in me. The scissor legs follow through....

Vince Brookins second half shooting against Georgetown to get to the final four.
That was a great performance. He didn't hit 10 shots as I recall and the team certainly didn't score 110 points. Did he have 5+ assists? I admit I don't recall.

You act like no one on the board has ever called various members of this team names, especially JBo and Connor. So you pussies can dish it out, but not take it?
I rarely see people call people names on this board. Some heavy douchebag posters on this forum confuse criticism with name calling and those are the usually the biggest pussies of them all.

I never called anyone a name untii that jackass decided to put everyone in the same bucket because of some comments on TWITTER, the worst collection of people on the planet.

I defended his jackassery for a looong time.. but I'm over it. Only thing that can turn around my attitude about him is if he plays well, which we know most likely won't happen.
