I look forward to Biden having trump taken out

Garland waiting 22 months to appoint a special counsel had nothing to do with due process. There's no reason he couldn't have appointed one in Feb of 2021.
considering he wasn't confirmed by the senate until March 2021, that would have been difficult

but the answer to your question is in the article you linked, which relates garland's lack of urgency "to avoid courting the impression of promoting partisanship or other unlovely kinds of divisiveness in the pursuit of accountability"

in hindsight, that was pointless because they were always going to be accused of hyper partisanship and politically motivated persecution of trump (that's his hallmark)...but one of the major reasons it took so long was because they were trying their best to avoid that

because mental illness is the only reason people think it's ridiculous to even entertain the thought that presidents should be permitted to commit crimes with impunity

Due process.

Which raises the question. Why did it take 32 months to indict? I mean if it's critical to get the trial in before the election you'd think the justice department would have been balls to the wall to get this to trial. They had to have known there would be delay tactics by the Trump team.

It took over 2 and a half years to actually indict him.
Because they're indicting a ****ing former president. That's not something you rush through to get it done quickly. You make sure you have the strongest case possible because you're indicting a ****ing former president.

This isn't difficult stuff. For seeming like a pretty smart well rounded guy, you sure post some dumb shit sometimes, man.

Interesting. But the Supreme Court should rush through the appeal?

Appointing a special counsel didn’t need to take 22 months. Appointing one a year earlier would have gotten this to trial before the election…and wouldn’t have rushed anything.

This is an unprecedented case and the SC has to weigh in…
This is an open-and-shut case, JUST LIKE the lower court outlined it.

As I'd stated before, Biden needs to file an Amicus that if they grant immunity, he will "eliminate" (as in kill off) the entire Court and replace them. Because then he can just pardon himself and be done with it.

So you don't believe everyone is entitled to the full extent of the judicial process?
SCOTUS affirming the lower court ruling, by declining the case IS the "full extent of the judicial process".

That ruling was lock-down tight and comprehensive.

Is it gross and unamerican to remove your chief political opponent off the ballot?

@binsfeldcyhawk2 is right. It's going through the judicial process and it's likely SCOTUS will rule against trump overwhelmingly. Nothing wrong with hearing it, because the issue will not be settled in the minds of Americans until the SCOTUS knocks him down for good.
Then they should have taken it back in December if they insisted on having a say.

Delaying this plays into Trump's hand, and risks him regaining power, putting lackeys in key positions and completely destroying our democracy. He tried this on 1/6; he won't make the same mistakes again, because it'll be another Saturday Night Massacre across the board. He'd put Gen. Flynn in charge and take over the military.

This is pretty much how Hitler rose to power and completely took over Germany.

Anyone else notice that Both Sides Bins is saying Trump deserves due process, but Garland should have slammed through a case without an investigation or facts, or a special counsel in such a politically fraught case.

It'd be child's play to 'guess' what he'd have been saying, if Garland had pushed rapidly for Trump's prosecution and incarceration....

Blame the delay on Garland. He procrastinated bigly.

Appointing a special counsel to the case in 2021 wouldn't have rushed anything Lucas.

He waited till November 2022....or 22 months after Jan 6.

If you want to blame anyone if this doesn't make it to trial before the election...blame him. At the very least he gets his share of the blame.

The schedules for all of these cases were synchronized by Democrats to play out like an election year hammer,.. If the timing isn't working out to their satisfaction it's their own fault...

Well don’t forget Trump was going to “go away” so there was really no hurry and it is imperative it has to be done right…

Reasonable point,... If Trump would have gone "away" none of these cases would have been brought.
I don’t think so. They wouldn’t have to have cut it so close to the election if he wasn’t running. They could take their time and dot the i’s and cross the t’s. Read a history book. Trump is a threat to our democracy. He flat out says it.

Nah,.. Trump doesn't run, none of this shit happens, and as far as the Democracy goes, it will be just fine.
