I seriously don't understand the outcry for an 8-team playoff

Reason 1: Scheduling huge OOC matchups won't hurt you to lose. If you win it enhances your chances for the at-large. If you lose you still have your conference to play for. Coaches & ADs would schedule big profile games with big interest and for big dollars because there is little downside. Coaches would have a chance to really test the mettle of their team before the conference season.

How did that work out for FSU this year?

That really wasn’t even that difficult. A quick google search revealed that. I’m sure there’s thousands more to be found with more time and effort. To say there wasn’t public outcry over going to a four game playoff is just absurd.

The best regular season? I don’t know, MLB. The MLB has the best probability that the best teams are in the playoffs. I prefer NCAA basketball, so I’d say that was the best to watch.

Tell me how is college football the best regular season when Iowa plays the 6th strongest SOS and Wisconsin plays the 50th? They’re in the same division.

Edit: I don’t see resting players in college like you do in the NFL. For one, NFL is locked in their seeds by records, not by polls /voters. Every college game would be meaningful, whether it be a 1st round bye or home field advantage (or both). An undefeated #1 team is not going to risk their top four seed just to sit their QB a week. I don’t see that happening. The only teams resting their players are the ones who have home field and byes locked up.

Your first linked article was from a guy named Lou Vozza ... You should at least cherry pick an article by someone somebody has actually heard of.

The last article actually has this in it:

"Despite that, here’s my prognosis. It wasn’t as bad as I feared. In many ways it’s been a fun season. If we could keep this system exactly as it is, I could make peace with the playoff.

But it won’t last. Already discontent is brewing, for all the most predictable reasons. Do you enjoy college football as it is now? Too bad. We’re going to keep “fixing” it until it’s not worth watching anymore."

This is exactly my point ... if you leave it alone, it is fine, but you folks want to keep trying to "fix" something that isn't broken and with that you will ruin what we have.

I'm done with the CFP Playoff. I'm fatigued at talking about it and hearing about it. "Who's In?" has been pushed down our throats and promoted all season long. There are over 100 FBS teams but only 4 teams get "In". For the vast majority of CFB fans the playoffs and all the attention it gets, all the coverage it gets, it just sucks the life out of the rest of CFB.

I'm ready to go back to the old days of bowl tie-ins and polls and voting for #1. Bring back the AP and Coach's polls and we can have a unanimous or split MNC. Bring back the days of players holding roses in their teeth and students lobbing oranges onto the field. The BIG and PAC playing in the Rose Bowl. Big 12(8) to the Orange Bowl. SEC to the Sugar.

This year Oklahoma and Georgia play in OUR Rose Bowl. Ugh. I don't even want to watch the game.
