Kids in Ankeny benefitting from a mild winter, as they will have a 2-hour early release as well, but as best I can tell, we are hardly getting anything and what we will be getting doesn't start until 6.
That is the most old man thing I have heard in awhile.
1st route over. A very fine mist coming down, yet radar shows nothing. Wipers clearing it, but where they don't reach is sticking.

Not considerable precipitation in CR yet. I think you'll get the last round home (mine gets off the bus around 2:30 (with the early out). NWS says "after 5PM" for CR and surrounding areas
Joe said at lunch that you might not see the precipitation on the radar. Something about it being too low in the atmosphere and light.

Yes, but we need to get those old ladies to watch the local news.
Warm air inversion and the positioning of the three weather radars for our viewing areas. The threat seems to be a freezing drizzle which will form below the optimal angle for the radars to register it. And, the cold ground will accept the moisture and freeze it readily.

Starting to stick in Western Dallas county. Interstate was fine on the way home but blacktop was a little slick.
You may be misremembering. That storm was covered by media outlets for like a week in advance. Pretty sure there was an Ice Storm warning for like a quarter of the state.
He's the captain of a 64 passenger petri dish...
Meteorologist and the media have had zero bad weather news to talk about all winter so gotta gin this one storm up to be a doozy.
Nothing against the weather service but I think I will wait for Trads expertise on whether or not the precipitation will stick.
I was think in’ about going out for a cold one this afternoon, but then I read about ol’ Moscow Mitch and didn’t want to imitate his act. Soooo, I’m home with a cold EXILE Hannah sitting next to me.
It is pretty slick out there. I cut out early from work around 3:30 and I’m glad I left when I did. Probably going to be some wicked wrecks during the commute.
Went home at lunch just in case and just got back to the gym. Not super icy, but definitely slicker than you’d think from looking out a window.
So glad daycare closed at 1:30. Still waiting for any precipitation

That’s the thing that makes it so treacherous. You think you are good 75% of the time but if you need to hit the brakes at the wrong time… bad things.
