If Fran were like Crean....Who would be "Creaned" after the season?

Just curious if anyone read the article. Each scenario unique. Some guys got hurt, others wanted to be closer to home, some wanted to play more and I bet some were or were soon to be academic casualties or didn't like Crean's system, discipline, etc. Those guys span Crean's career at IU, so it's not like he staged their departures. So if a player opts to leave a program, they got Creaned or 'cut'? No doubt some conversations likely took place with some of these guys, but I suspect most left on their own accord for better situations (possibly getting recruited over yes). Given that when Crean took over Sampson IU was eerily similar to Iowa's Lickliter years....needing practice players and walk on guys to come off the bench.
So you just ignored this from the article "IU was oversigned with its three incoming recruits and the return of Yogi Ferrell for his senior season, so another departure was expected. However, it's becoming a trend in Bloomington (as well as across the nation)." This is Creaning, this is what people have a problem with. I don't have a problem with at the end of the season discussing with player x that you don't see a future for him at this school. What I have a problem with is during the season offering that players scholarship to some one else or over signing, however you want to say it. Crean signed 3 guys without any room or scholarships for them is what the article says. That's what I have a problem with. Even the biased article says it's becoming a trend in Bloomington.

The worst Creaning case was Crean getting rid of a Mr. Indiana player when he was a senior at Indy (I don't remember his name) early on in Crean's time at Indiana. I am surprised he was left off the list. The player was a serious 3 point threat for Indiana and played a lot.

Valid points. But the job at Indiana is vastly different than Iowa. I would say most Iowa fans are good with an NCAA appearance every couple years and maybe a first round win. Indiana sees themselves in the same light as Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and UNC. Indiana winning the big ten is an expectation vs. fantasy like it is at Iowa.

Maybe I am just a cold hearted SOB because I was once Creaned from a rec league team after a particularly cold shooting night paired with a much better player becoming available after getting his work schedule changed. I found another team and went on to enjoy a win-less season, so see, all these things end well. :)

As a freshman, Capobianco averaged about 12 minutes a game for the shorthanded Hoosiers. With more reinforcements arriving in the following seasons, Capobianco was surplus and transferred to Valparaiso, where he averaged 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 63 games for the Crusaders.

Did you read about a player considered "surplus" after his freshman year and you didn't think that qualified as Creaning? There is a new word in the online dictionaries of the world,"Creaning", guess where it comes from.
