The Orange Krush released a statement trying to claim that Iowa just cancelled 200 tickets they bought for Saturday. The Krush is alleging they are now out several thousand dollars due to non-refundable travel plans. They are also trying to take the moral high ground by insinuating Iowa is taking money from charity:

Except for the part where the Boys & Girls Club they claimed to be supporting hadn't ever heard of the tickets they were claiming were bought for them. If you are going to do something for a charity, you probably should let the charity in on what you are planning to do so they don't completely bust you when they are asked about it.

I was there. And other than cheering a bit louder and more often than the Iowa students in that era, they were regular college kids having fun. Also that wasn’t some isolated thing, I’ve personally witnessed them in Carver a minimum of four times.

The Krush is a registered charitable organization. They always use a name of some other organization because athletic departments have rejected their orders in the past when using the Krush name. They didn’t get a discount that they wouldn’t have be eligible for. Yes they should have let the organization they were fronting as know. Still not a great look for Barta. One half of all money raised from the pledge program, minus the cost of tickets for each member and any costs incurred in a roadtrip to another Big Ten school, is then donated to various charities in the Champaign-Urbana area.
