The Orange Krush released a statement trying to claim that Iowa just cancelled 200 tickets they bought for Saturday. The Krush is alleging they are now out several thousand dollars due to non-refundable travel plans. They are also trying to take the moral high ground by insinuating Iowa is taking money from charity:

Orange Krush report Iowa won't allow Illinois students into Illini basketball game at Iowa

But as always, theres more to the story.....

Lame. It's a 501c3 whose members collected donations for local charities for a chance to go on the trip. The Athletic department should be embarrassed.
Except for the part where the Boys & Girls Club they claimed to be supporting hadn't ever heard of the tickets they were claiming were bought for them. If you are going to do something for a charity, you probably should let the charity in on what you are planning to do so they don't completely bust you when they are asked about it.

Was anyone at the Lickliter/orange crush game? How was their behavior?
I was there. And other than cheering a bit louder and more often than the Iowa students in that era, they were regular college kids having fun. Also that wasn’t some isolated thing, I’ve personally witnessed them in Carver a minimum of four times.

If they actually tried to buy tickets under the guise of a charitable organization, then the Orange Krush is super pathetic.
The Krush is a registered charitable organization. They always use a name of some other organization because athletic departments have rejected their orders in the past when using the Krush name. They didn’t get a discount that they wouldn’t have be eligible for. Yes they should have let the organization they were fronting as know. Still not a great look for Barta. Is he worried about 200 kids making any difference amongst the thousands of Hawks fans?

Sorry, but using the boys and girls club as a front is completely shameful, especially when you don't tell them about it. I mean, come on! What do you suppose the boys and girls club thought when they got the call from Iowa asking if they bought the tickets? Just disgusting and shameful.

I don’t know if it was the game years ago people are talking about but I was at a game that hundreds of Illinois fans were at and they came in wearing Iowa stuff and right after tip they took it all off to expose their Illinois stuff. Brilliant and a great troll but have hated them for it since.

So screw them. They have a history of being full of shit and coming in under false pretense.

One half of all money raised from the pledge program, minus the cost of tickets for each member and any costs incurred in a roadtrip to another Big Ten school, is then donated to various charities in the Champaign-Urbana area.

From Wikipedia, as that's the only place I could find actual info, but it sure seems like the charitable portion is out of exactly zero dollars.

Its like the Houston Astros last season. Someone bought 6K worth of tickets with a stolen credit card. And then sold them via various means to others who paid by zelle or venmo. When it came to light the Astros cancelled all the tickets. People were crying how they had legally bought the ticket and the Astros were cheating them. Which they werent. A TV station felt sorry for a family and bought them some tickets.

When was the last time men’s basketball or football was in the media for a good reason?

Today.

“Illinois student organization poses as underprivileged kids in order to obtain basketball tickets. Athletic department discovers the scam and donates the tickets to actual underprivileged kids.”

Now get the **** out of here clown boy. You got ****ing owned.
