Would love to get one last crack at Illinois and let our team's performance do the talking.
Classless. Cheering for your team is one thing, but berating a player like that is just wrong.
"You fing suck" is one thing, but telling a player to kill themselves is clearly over the line and pretty disgusting.
Sadly, today's society is the problem!
Man I would be livid at a Hawkeye fan yelling this at an opposing player.
Scum illinoy fans doing what they do best….embarrassing fan base. They suck at everything else besides basketball so they act like fvcking morons. Both the Murray’s have promising NBA futures ahead while the majority if not all Illinois players will be asking paper or plastic.
Anyone follow game threads or other posts after Iowa loses? Classless isn’t exclusive to Illinois fans.
Just read that. Not cool and feel bad for Kris. He'll get his at the BTT to shut them up. Everyone was upset about the missed free throws but nobody feels worse than Kris.
Very sad if true, and unfortunately I think it’s turning into a bit of a generational problem, going by Instagram comment sections of all games.

The saddest part about this, is when I first heard about the incident, I wondered if it was one of our fans that said it.
Please. We wish that and worse. I sit behind the visiting bench at Kinnick. I’ve heard everything you can imagine yelled by Iowa fans at opposing players. And they heard it too. We’re no different than any other fanbase.

My wife got in a tiny fender bender in a bizarre car wash accident. So this big dude starts yelling and dropping f-bombs at my wife. Wasn't even clear to her how it happened - may be some culpability on Car Wash - so she called me.
Unfortunately I was in Dallas but I could hear him going off. I yell over the speaker phone "Don't swear in front of/at my wife!"
He angrily reacted like that was the most ridiculous thing he ever heard.

Every fan base has idiotic elements. Illinois should, as should be the case everywhere, ban the person(s) for life from the SFC and recommend prosecution if warranted.

I hope Kris brushed that $hit off and drops 30 plus on Illi the next meeting… the good ones find ways to turn that kind of stuff into fire for the next battle..
Not cool at all and 99 % of any fan base wouldn’t condone this at all but please those that live in glass houses…racist insults thrown Kofi’s way by your fan base including this incident…

That fan is mentally ill. Sorry for his comments. It's a problem everywhere. Iowa and Illinois are not immune to the usual bigots. What needs to happen when this happens is good people need to speak up in no uncertain terms to the person doing it
Seriously, you don’t have to be sorry for what someone else did. I am just pointing out that most of us in all fanbases dont act That way. By all accounts, the Murray brothers seem like class acts and I hope they do great (hopefully both in the NBA next year😁).

I am old enough to remember when people in this country treated each other with civility and respect. The emergence of the drug culture in the second half of the 60s was the catalyst that started the change in people's attitudes. There are other factors as well but drugs are where it started. Our society is decaying and it is very sad to see it happen.

I don't know about drugs, so much. I'd say this very type of forum we're on now is more then culprit. The internet has led to a whole new generation of people who can say whatever they want without recourse. Same with mobile phones and texting. When we were growing up, you were usually standing in front of someone when you spoke to them, and most of these internet warriors wouldn't say half the crap they do, if the object of their insults was right next to them.
Oh yeah, most people are a LOT more polite in person, I've observed. It's pretty cowardly to talk crap to someone when you don't have to look them in the eye, and especially when they don't even know who you are. "Tampahawkfan" can say what he wants to people and nothing will ever come of it. Social media isn't such a great thing, IMHO.
But.. The topic at hand, a little razzing of opposing players by the crowd is one thing, but there's a line that shouldn't be crossed, and where that line is, I hope, is fairly obvious. And I agree, I don't think these things are specific to any one or two fan bases. There are idiots and a-holes everywhere. It's just a game, people. Some take it way too seriously.
