I'm concerned for the 2028 election

Harris will destroy the domestic terrorist and rapist in 2024. The concern I have for 2028 is the promise to pass Roe V Wade as law as even if the Dems somehow keep the Senate the stupid joke filibuster is in play. I see no path to passing Roe V Wade as law without ending the Filibuster rules.
Disagree. Tie it to funding and use the reconciliation process.

Well what is it then?

Catholic priest are taught to abuse children by the church? Catholic church selects pedophiles? Pedophiles are drawn by the Catholic faith?

About 5-10% of men in every demographic abuse children.

Catholic priests don't have a higher rate of abuse, just a higher rate of media coverage.

Only the left can define fat drunk guys with grand Poohbah hats running through the capitol as an “insurrection”, while saying a person with four limbs, a face, a brain and a heartbeat, isn’t “human”. While claiming the other side is “anti-science”.

The same people, BTW, who take issue with the words “mob” and “riot” when it’s clear that’s what things are. And call the burning of buildings and violently attacking police and protesters, “mostly peaceful gatherings”. And tell us constantly that “words are violence”.

Time for a new dictionary, Dems.

Just take a break for today

The solution is obvious.

When old enough, male and female children should have sperm samples taken or eggs removed and then be neutered.

If at a later date they are judged fit to produce offspring, their seed can be used to produce babies.

Similarly, if at a later date they are judged to be fit to raise children, they will be allowed to adopt.

Some people will get all hung up on the "who gets to judge" dilemma. Fair enough. Be we can work that out through public debate.

How exactly would they do that? Use federal funds to pay for abortions?
Tie federal funding for a variety of issues to providing appropriate access to reproductive health care. Not suggesting that we fund abortions as there are a variety of different funding mechanisms.

It might not pass muster. Better to ditch the filibuster.
Reconciliation is a simple majority and doesn’t allow for filibuster.

Because reconciliation bills cannot be filibustered, in recent decades the reconciliation process has been used most frequently when the same party controls the presidency, House, and Senate but lacks the 60-vote majority in the Senate needed to overcome a filibuster.

Yes, but there are rules. The bill will be scored, and and could be ruled unacceptable for the reconciliatiom process if it has too much non-budget stuff in it. Abortion clearly counts as non-budget stuff.

I would NOT expect it to be given the go-ahead, but who knows?

The concern I have about eliminating the filibuster is what happens when the shoe is on the other foot.

I understand that a lot of people have that concern. But the Rs will ditch the filibuster if they decide it suits their aims, and Dems worrying about that won't slow them down. So I lean toward making the process more democratic, no matter who has the majority at the moment.

Eh ... Politicians in general make a lot of bold proclamations that they have no ability to actually bring to fruition.

Democrats are no different

Untrue. That ended in 2002. I was an agnostic atheist until 2016.

Regardless, it doesn't make sense to leave Jesus because of Judas.

My friend knew this doctor. He was a pedophile.

Should I stop seeing doctors now, using your logic?

So the AMA (giving them the total authority of the Vatican, of course) covered this up and quietly moved this doctor from practice to practice without informing anyone? That would be the equivalent, you know.

This isn’t about percentages. Once again, this is about the Catholic Church preventing “media coverage” by foisting known pedophiles on unsuspecting dioceses while covering up their crimes.

They. Knew. What. They. Were. Doing.

It. Was. Institutional.

That’s what the media coverage was about.

That all ended 20+ years ago. The media coverage brings up cases from 40+ years ago repeatedly to give the impression that there's widespread child abuse and coverups happening NOW which isn't true.

The Church at the time was doing what the psychology community recommended. They believed that child abusers should be given some therapy then moved to a new location and cured. Child abuse wasn't taken as seriously as it is today, unfortunately.

Here's a book on the subject by non-Catholic former Penn State professor Philip Jenkins.
