Indiana looking at McCollum

In this century, IU has had 6 coaches, only 4 B1G titles and only made the Dance half the time. They've won 58.6 of their games. While this record is certainly better than Iowa, it's not close to what they are looking for.

But IU still has some cache. Most would probably jump at the chance - even someone from Iowa City like McCollum.

man, what a mind screw it would be, if next year an Indiana team led by McCollum takes the Iowa team led by Fran to the woodshed

I don't think McCollum will be seriously considered by Indiana. I think it's a good decision by Indiana to interview him but ultimately they will hire someone with more street cred. Indiana is beyond taking a chance by hiring a small school coach.

Look who they hired as football coach. D2 but success everywhere he went followed by success at Indiana. Their AD is not afraid to hire successful D2 coach. McCollum fits that profile.

I don't agree with this, but I hope that is their thinking and it will help to further their slide. If they are arrogant enough to think that bringing in a McCollum type coach is beneath them I don't think that serves them well going forward.

He’s exactly who they should be targeting, but they’re too stupid to do that. Hopefully he ends up at Iowa 🤞

Not stupid, they literally CAN'T hire someone like McCollum without outraging their deluded fan base who thinks they deserve to have Brad Stevens coach IU (as long as Jesus Christ declined the job first).

Indiana is the Nebraska of BIG basketball but not quite as obnoxious IMO.
