Injuries

So it’s not about Spencer’s two ACL’s? Murin is yet to wrestle to avoid weight cuts? same with Kemmerer? Warner needed a rest, he wasn’t hurt at Luther?

It is merely a coincidence that four of the five starters who missed the meet are the ones with obvious injury issues? Seriously?

How do all the others D1 through D3 wrestlers manage to survive such a grinding experience, but the Hawks can’t? You have to have a severely low opinion of our wrestlers and coaches to think this isn’t about injuries.
You didn’t read or comprehend my post it seems. I never mentioned injuries. I responded to your opinion that the work of a seven minutes of a match could/should not be a reason to not wrestle.

You’re obviously right that some Hawks are dealing with some nagging injuries, however I don’t buy that theory you posted above about Iowa being cursed by injury. 2 years ago we were incredibly healthy, last year there were a few injuries and 1 major one.

Injuries are cyclical in nature. They come and go in sports. I’d rather they rest nagging injuries now then have to deal with them later. What we don’t need to do is shout conspiracies from the rooftop because we had 5 backups in a dual meet in early November. Let the season play out. I still like our chances and I bet if pressed you’d wager on Iowa too.

lol nice term. What do we call the “we aren’t wrestling them because we don’t feel like it” or the “these guys are tired and need a break” narratives because they are both so incredibly sensical.

So if this the reason why did several starters do wrestle offs, Luther, and the Princeton dual while others did not? Were they not potentially going to get injured as well?

People are trying way too hard here. Why is this any more complex than guys dealing with some short term issues: nagging injuries, illness, returning from offseason surgery, etc.? We’ve seen it many times so why would it be different? That’s far more plausible than some awkward theory that we are protecting healthy athletes from getting hurt.
Maybe you're trying too hard. It seems more plausible to me Brands is playing it safe with injury prone athletes than all 5 were too injured and/or sick to wrestle in a meet in which we will win without them anyway.

However, I have no doubt there was a ding or two.

That’s all reasonable, except I don’t understand where the word “conspiracy” comes from. We have a bunch of injuries, though we are not privy to what they are.

<<Is Lee injured? I doubt it. Why would he be?>>

I think there is a fine line between being injured and 100 % healthy... Don't rule out flu, covid, etc.

In many years, when we were not winning titles, our coaches and staff got criticism for "overtraining".. now I think it's more of being smart, more cautious.

If this were Big Tens .. absolutely most of these guys would wrestle.. but I think you going to see Iowa be protective in some cases to make sure we are as healthy as possible in March.
