INSIDER INFO

Don't really believe anything at this point. But I hope Beth understands that if McCollum is lost, things will go south quick. If I were her, I'd tell him we've offer at least a million or more than whatever WVU is offering in both pay and NIL.

Roots don't mean jack squat in today's world. The only thing that moves someone is money.

100%! Watched it every year, good guard play and D will move the needle in March. He had Garza, Murray twins, Weezy, etc and we can't get to Sweet 16? Geez, you wonder why...
Let’s not forget that Licklitter took Butler to the Sweet 16

I am hoping we get him

Didn’t someone else on this site a few days ago claim DeVries was a done deal?
The "done deal" guys are exactly the same guys as the "book it!" guys.

Almost never right but almost aways entertaining.

The "done dealer/book its" also praised Devries' integrity, and waxed poetic about how deep his Iowa roots were, and how Iowa was his dream job.

The "done dealer/book its" are now just as dead nuts certain that Devries is a money grubbing, shady creep with no loyalty to anyone....oh yeah....and who was never Iowa's first choice to begin with....book it!

LMAO. Like I said -- always entertaining.

You forgot the part where bm stayed at nwms for 15yrs because he didn’t want to uproot his family to move just anywhere. Id say roots are pretty damn big to him

I'd like to see Fran have some success with another program, and Penn would be a good fit,... Connor should stay put however, as Butler under Thad Motta is a great learning opportunity and resume builder for him...
I don't understand what going to Penn with Fran does for Connor's potential coaching career. He spent his first 20 some odd years with him, learning Fran's coaching philosophy, etc. It would seem beneficial for him to learn other perspectives from other coaches.

Lick flamed out at Iowa b/c......
- it's very difficult to recruit to Iowa (too cold, too white, too hick),
- apathetic fans,
- money and resources to FB and W,
- yadda yadda.
-Had the personality of a napkin
-Refused to leave the county to recruit
-Refused to talk to recruits
-In game adjustments consisted of putting his face in his hands

There’s a reason he got fired from Evansville, too

DDV wanted to come to Iowa. We couldn't meet his wishes as far as giving him the bank to recruit a championship level team. I don't blame him. If you have goals to win a National Title, you know what you want and need and won't settle for less.
This is not true. DeVries did not want to come to Iowa. He has been in discussions with Indiana for months.

Connor tweeting the three clown emojis was a very telling sign once his Father was fired. That’s a douche move with your gf the legend of Iowa women’s bball. You don’t post anything at all in the position he is in.
After all the douche bag posts by people on this site and X and all the other crap sites attaching him and his family, he is a douche for posting in retaliation.

I guess if I’m a young aspiring coach, that’s something I’d refrain from. Fran caught it way worse and never tweeted anything like that.
But, to each their own.

what other schools?
Texas will be firing their coach and the fans want BM.

Possibility for Kansas as well.

Villanova, although I think they are targeting Willard from Maryland.

I’m not sure any of these are realistic landing spots for BM. But after last night he is one of the hottest names for any open position in the country

This seems to be true. Money talks now more than ever.

Pay up, Beth.

Don’t know who you are; for all we know you could be behind the Iowa Burners Network, which is total junk.

At this point I’m sincerely questioning any of this is true. My bet is Iowa’s chances of getting BM took a big hit tonight. Lot of other schools with better NIL likely perked up.

I’d be very surprised if he wound up at Iowa.
But I’d be thrilled and actually would contribute.
It's good for his resume that his team got it done against a power team in the tourney, but it doesn't suddenly make him a candidate. The basketball world already knows who he is.

Self is not going anywhere

I guess Texas is an option. Their coach is still there at this point

Agree!

Iowa has their guy. I can’t say any more because I don’t want to compromise my sources. Trust me on this. You will see I’m right. Iowa will be announcing the new coach “soon”! ;)
Just like all the insider info that DD was a done deal to...lol lil old Iowa going to get embarrassed and outbid again big time again cause the big doners don't want to invest anything in Iowa mens BBall...

Agreed. BM staying at Drake might be my biggest concern as well.

He’s said in the past that his family’s preference has influenced his decisions on jobs. If they are happy and content in Des Moines, they might just stay there. (Or wait for a better opportunity,)

You post a lotta good stuff, but I'll take an opposite view.

BM is a loyal guy---said he wouldn't discuss coaching elsewhere while his guys were playing.

That said, he's not a dumb guy. He can sign now with a P4 teams and probably get north of $15 million guaranteed. I would be shocked
if he stays at Drake, a school he was only at 1 year. His stud player needs $1 million type NIL---Drake doesn't have that and Drake coaching salary is not going to be competivie.

My guess is most of his players that are still eligible end up at his next school and that is part of the package deal.

Yes, perspectives on defense and rebounding.

How after 15 years of nothing can some of you still think any decent program would have interest in fran?
I imagine Fran will land a job somewhere, but there isn’t much better than a 5% chance he goes anywhere but a mid-major. He’s older and shown he’s not capable of deep runs. Someone will hire him to turn their program around and make them somewhat relevant again i suppose.

You have to admit, this is the most energy this board has had in a long while. The carping on Fran was getting tiresome.

It wasn't a done deal with Indiana. Nobody knew Iowa would tank so poorly in December and that Fran would be let go. So Iowa was behind the 8-ball.
