IOWA #25 in CBS Preseason Rankings. #26 in Coaches Poll. #25 in AP

Joel Klatt has us at #22 and in the B1G Title game.

I really think a lot of people are sleeping on the Hawks, because of the offense that last two years. I could really see this being the best team we've had under KF that started outside the poll. I'll bet there are a bunch of guys in that locker room with a HUGE chip on their shoulders. Both guys on last years OL, and transfers like Cade, All, Anderson, Brown, and even Jackson. Barring some unseen issues I'd book those Indy tickets for December, and I think we'll have a shot at the prize......

We will find out when we play at Penn State.

I see UNI is ranked #23 in the preseason FCS poll (can't remember which one but was in today's CR Gazette). If they pooled FBS and FCS that would probably have UNI and Iowa State on equal footing wouldn't it? Around 60ish? Whoa boy if Iowa State loses that first one to UNI in Ames on Sept 2.

I will get a better feel when I see the BTN show when they stop at our practice. Will listen closely to what Dinardo says for commentary. You go back and re-watch last year's show and it really should have forewarned everyone based on what he said.
a brief summary of what he said last year would be great. interested in whether he zeroed in on ol, qb, or both...

I am very high on the possibilities this season. So much depends on the OL. I do think we are ranked way too low. That might be my bias shining through, however.

I agree about the oline but at least there’s hope. WR on the other hand is probably as dismal as any team in the league.

OSU and Alabama are breaking in new qb's so might struggle in some bigger games
Nope, the OSU QB - Kyle McCord is bigtime and waited 3 years to get his chance after being talked out of entering the Portal by Ryan Day. He was a legit 5-star in HS. One thing for sure, Day and Lincoln Riley will have bigtime QBs. Their defenses - on the other hand............

I think the B1G and, maybe even national championships, go through the OSU defense. In other words, can they step up and make stops in big games this year unlike the previous 2 or 3 years. If not, I think the B1G comes down to PSU and Michigan. Make no mistake though, OSU will probably have the best offense in the country again.

So I guess we're looking at either 8-5 or 7-6 then?
As untouchable as KF has become, I seriously think that he would be run out of town with another 5-loss season, especially if the offense continues to underperform. The team should be able to sleep-walk to 9 wins with that schedule. And being as fair as I can, that kind of season would scream "time to retire."

What if we finish 9-5?

and i wonder what UNI is getting paid

We are ranked 8th among the new BIG starting next year.
Now, Wash, USC and Oregon will lose star was next year so things will change.
I suspect Iowa will be a middle of the BIG pack program going forward.

Still can't figure out why everyone is so high on Wisconsin. I just can't see them being the offensive powerhouse that all these outlets saying they are going to be.

Mehh, we might be middle of the pack but our boys will still punch the big f*ckers in the mouth when they least expect it. We've always been one of the most dangerous teams to play on any given day as far as upsets go.

It really intrigues me to think what would have happened if Cooper would have been QB from day one. I think we would be a top 10 team. The athleticism can not be discounted in the modern game at qb. He also has a very serviceable arm.
The guy is a freaking stud.
How exciting would the O be with his scrambling ability?

I agree with that. Watch his hs film, some of these running qbs I see don’t have the passing skills Cooper does. He can freaking fly, imagine him taking off on designed runs.

I said that last year, I would have put him in the lineup. He probably could start in basketball as well.
If coop was a slam dunk power 5 QB why would he prefer playing dback?
Answer: being a great athlete does not guarantee being a great QB.
He had a bit of a funky throwing motion and not the strongest arm.

As for starting on the BB team?
Seriously? C'mon.
He is at the position that gives him the best chance to excel in college and NFL.

he could Play q b and play it well, that doesn’t guarantee he would make it in the nfl or be drafted highly. he will be a first round pick at c b. That’s the difference.
I think he could play hoops with our team, definitely. I’m sure he’s played some pickup games on campus, can handle the ball, shoot and jump out of the gym. Watch some tape of him. He’s a great athlete.

He could've been Iowa's version of Tim Tebow ...now we'll have to settle for our version of Deion Sanders.

That's exactly right, doesn't mean he wouldn't up our qb game to a completely different level. That's all we are saying.
Not so sure I agree that he wouldn't excel as a college qb. NFL, that's a different game.
He might do well as an NFL qb too. We will never know.

He’s got much Better passing mechanics and is much quicker than Jayden Delaura of Arizona and several other hyped dual threat running qbs. post up his hoops highlights off YouTube. 10.7 100 meters and 24 foot long jumper. of course he could play q b and and he could play BB.

KF is thinking in this direction as he signed Resar who runs a 10.67 which is faster than Texas A and Ms hyped up five star freshman running back Rueben Owens the #2 rb in the nation.
