Iowa Baseball @ B1G Tournament

That was about as unlikely as a shutout can be. Seems like Nebby had 2 on or more every inning.

Good job, Hawks!

Rick Heller is now 8-2 vs Nebraska. Things get interesting for Iowa come Saturday, really go to need our pitchers to step up. We win one tomorrow and we play for the title Sunday. Iowa will play the winner of Minnesota/Indiana and neither will be an easy out.

Hope Adams and Neustrom pick it up tomorrow. Whelan and McCoy have been getting on base enough.

Now will show what our pitching staff (read: bullpen) is made of.

So obviously I think we go with Elijah Wood in game three, but after that who do we start?

The choices would be Shane Ritter, Drake Robison, or Cole McDonald would be my guess.

We will see how Saturday goes, but I say in the fourth game whenever it is you give the ball to Shane Ritter. He has struggled at times, but he has the ability to give Iowa a solid start.

Could be a pitch by committee approach, it didn't help having our first game moved back a day. Almost zero chance Gallagher could pitch on two days rest. Hopefully a lot of offense between iu and Minn to use up as much pitching as possible.

Gallagher COULD be an option on Sunday (if we make it) for a few because that would typically be the time of a bullpen session, but if he were to pitch on Sunday then no chance he could go Friday IMO.

I am getting WAY ahead of myself...

I don't think so either 4-5 runs could even be on the low end to win, but I think that 7-8 runs is going to be closer to where we'll need to be at a minimum.

They had to play MD/NE tonight, they had no choice. That is why MN/IA got moved to 9am. You don't play this game tonight, then you're taking a chance of a game on Sunday morning. I know they did it last year, but it's not ideal at all.

Maryland wins 8-5. Huskers leave another ridiculous number of guys on base. Now will wait for NCAA tourney.

Tomorrow's semifinal matchups:

Iowa vs. Minnesota
Northwestern vs. Maryland

(IA and NW advance to championship with one win. MN and MD must beat their opponents twice tomorrow to advance)

Minnesota throwing a pretty decent RHP against Iowa this morning that has a 3.19 ERA and opponents hitting .204 off him. Looks like he has made a few Sunday starts for them.

Minnesota's got a ton of momentum after a crazy comeback last night. Going to be a tough one

I am still at a loss on that HBP on Adams, I mean it hit his leg. It's not like he leaned into it or anything of that sorts. Iowa gets at least two runs instead of one.
