Pitching has been pathetic in this game.
This has been Iowa baseball this year after Gallagher and Erickson. The Eldred injury plus others have really left the pitching short handed.

8-3 Minnesota leads going into the 6th?, for those of us not watching at home......
Yeah, although we always knew that pitching was the question mark after Gallagher and Erickson. Having Erickson for this game would've been hugePitching has been pathetic in this game.

I meant if Eldred was healthyWe couldn't risk saving Erickson for a game three.
Both of those are dumb. Why would he want that?
BauEight innings and 122 pitches for Meyer of Minnesota which is a career outing for him and it's not even close. Unbelievable...
Great job by that young man to step up and pitch well when his team needed it. Let's hope we have someone step up the same for us.Eight innings and 122 pitches for Meyer of Minnesota which is a career outing for him and it's not even close. Unbelievable...
I say use Gallagher or Erickson again.Minnesota wins 9-3 and we will play again this afternoon at 5pm EST tentatively. My guess is it's closer to 5pm CST.
Really not a lot of positives this morning. We had the McCoy HR, Lizarraga pitched four scoreless, Corbin Woods had a couple defensive plays.
Iowa really let Minnesota's pitcher off the hook in the 5th-6th-7th inning. What did he throw 26 pitches total in those innings? He ended up with a career outing of 8 IP and 122 pitches.
Iowa has Robison, Ritter, McDonald all as starter possibilities, but with that said it's win and play on Sunday or season over. So if we have to use Daniels, Martsching, etc...
We will see what happens.
Or the dodgersI say use Gallagher or Erickson again.
Make it like girls softball where teams rely on one all star pitcher to win their teams a title.
It is. I'm more for having a winner bracket final and loser bracket final. Loser of the winners bracket final plays the winner of the losers bracket. Who ever moves on then they must double dip the undefeated team.Ahh so the double elimination aspect for the winners bracket comes into play during the semifinals, which explains why we're playing Minnesota again instead of somebody else.
Still all seems a**-backwards compared to normal double elimination set-ups..........just sayin.
Is that a good thing?.....Iowa going with Cole McDonald tonight...
Is that a good thing?.....
Maryland won the first game, 9-5, so they'll also play another (tonight, I'm assuming???)
That bodes well for the winner of our game as they won't be starting until 9 or even later possibly, which hopefully means tired players for a potential title game against Iowa tomorrow.
At this point I am not sure it's a good thing. McDonald has really struggled the last 4-5 weeks.
Bau.....I think both teams will be tired come Sunday. At this point, I'd say advantage Maryland in this tournament.
Well then Minnesota should stop hitting the ball. Thanks!Welp...looking more and more like this might be it. I know it's early, but Iowa doesn't have the pitching to stop Minnesota.
Put in new pitchers then.Same as game 1. Pitching sucks
