Iowa Baseball @ B1G Tournament

I really don't know if/that Iowa has the pitching to get it done today....we're going to need a quality start from Ritter or Robison if we play Minnesota again. I'd imagine one of those two would be who we're starting.

Iowa needs to make Meyer work! They are going to let him for seven or eight with these quick innings. They need to get to the Minnesota bullpen.

John Anderson has done great things at Minnesota and I respect that, but some of the ideas that man had for the B1G conference would've destroyed baseball.

He is the one who wanted the B1G to go to a "summer league" completely separate of the NCAA. He also wanted the B1G tournament to be only four teams.

Here we go...

Minnesota wins 9-3 and we will play again this afternoon at 5pm EST tentatively. My guess is it's closer to 5pm CST.

Really not a lot of positives this morning. We had the McCoy HR, Lizarraga pitched four scoreless, Corbin Woods had a couple defensive plays.

Iowa really let Minnesota's pitcher off the hook in the 5th-6th-7th inning. What did he throw 26 pitches total in those innings? He ended up with a career outing of 8 IP and 122 pitches.

Iowa has Robison, Ritter, McDonald all as starter possibilities, but with that said it's win and play on Sunday or season over. So if we have to use Daniels, Martsching, etc...

We will see what happens.

I say use Gallagher or Erickson again.

Make it like girls softball where teams rely on one all star pitcher to win their teams a title.

Ahh so the double elimination aspect for the winners bracket comes into play during the semifinals, which explains why we're playing Minnesota again instead of somebody else.

Still all seems a**-backwards compared to normal double elimination set-ups..........just sayin.

It is. I'm more for having a winner bracket final and loser bracket final. Loser of the winners bracket final plays the winner of the losers bracket. Who ever moves on then they must double dip the undefeated team.

Maryland won the first game, 9-5, so they'll also play another (tonight, I'm assuming???)

That bodes well for the winner of our game as they won't be starting until 9 or even later possibly, which hopefully means tired players for a potential title game against Iowa tomorrow.

I think both teams will be tired come Sunday. At this point, I'd say advantage Maryland in this tournament.
