Iowa has not had a QB

Yeah Hartleib is a good comparison. It isn't just his guts, he is in control of the situation.

CJ will play in NFL. Given time to Throw he is deadly. If hr was 100% he'd be on the Heisman radar.

NFL scouts have to like it that when he misses, he misses safe. He can throw it into tight windows, but rarely throws where the defense can make a play on it.

When CJ is healthy he looks a lot like Brad Banks.
Peas in a pod. Great leaders. They aren't perfect, and don't demand perfection from teammates. What you see is what you get. Instead they lead by having faith in their teammates and inspiring their teammates' faith in them. All they care about is winning, and their teammates are happy to follow suit.

Guy has guts for sure. He's a great leader.
Needs to be more accurate on the deep balls, and not always throw it 100 MPH, but I'm excited to see what he can do next year when fully healthy.

After his Jesus Christ touchdown late in the 2nd quarter he was shown hobbling along the the bench, high-fiving each teammate who was sitting (I believe it was our O-Linemen).

While the guy obviously brings a sweet skillset - CJ's leadership mentality is what is spearheading this team.

It's refreshing to see the QB throw the ball down the field rather than 2 yards out to the sidelines!

These are the same calls as last year see how an incredible QB makes an OC. Guys like Colt McCoy, Vince Young and now CJ make GD look like a genius. Not to bash at all but this is the first QB since GD has been here that has the correct skill set to run his offense.

Disagree on the guts. Both Stanzi and Tate are two recent quarterbacks that had guts to match. Beathard is just better.

The first part of this but not the second.

His TD run was a copy of Tate's. I don't see much to back up claiming he is simply better than those two.

Some very good throws today though, came up big when needed.

Not true ! All the careful what you wish for people ( they've disappeared ) kept tells us over and over that Rudock was the better QB...LOL

I was about as big of a Rudock supporter as anyone last year, and that was only because I argued that Ferentz and the staff were not idiots for starting Rudock over Beathard. I thought CJ should have started last year, but I also thought the coaching staff had logical reasons for starting Rudock.

CJ is a great QB, but he's obviously been limited with injuries. In the past few weeks I think we've seen that this team can win with average QB play, so long as we have a very good defense and running game. A healthy CJ would really elevate this team's potential, but even with a banged up CJ this team can still win every game on its schedule.

CJ hasn't made the mistakes that Ricky made and has made better throws. He also has shown the ability to run the ball and his game management has been pretty perfect. I think it is safe to say that he is better than Stanzi and Tate.

Brad Banks comparison is spot on. CJ is easily the best gaining yards with his legs since Brad. I remember watching Banks come up with clutch throw after clutch throw against Penn State and thinking, "it has been a while since an Iowa QB was this gritty". Got the same feeling against Indiana and CJ yesterday.

I had to say "wait and see" to all the JR supporters... again...ill have to say wait and see when CJB gets to the next level. He has to throw it easy because to much whizz at this level and they won't catch them. CJ is spot on when he has time to throw... he'll get there. Good thing we have him for another year. Still shocks me that the JR supporters (family members) still favor him even when he plays for Michigan.

Banks and Stanzi are good comparisons. And the 2 best qb's we've had since CJ. Tate was a level lower than these 3. Definitely didn't have the leadership that these 3 have.

He reminds me of Chuck Hartlieb.
Wrong
He's best since Stanzi and is a brother from another rmother compared to Ricky. Also has a little Tate in him.
CH wasn't that good in my mind. Played behind some really, really good olines and also gained a lot of yards and stats in losses - a Indy game comes to mind but I could be wrong.

I don't recall a qb at Iowa in my 40 years that matched arm strength, ability to run, and leadership that CJ has. Long had an arm and leadership, BB could run better, Tate was accurate and moved well with a good arm, but CJ meshes all those qualities better than then all.

Chuck Hartlieb was a gutty, gritty leader that made the team better when he stepped on the field. He played hurt and he made plays that mattered.

Sorry if you guys talked about it already, but I just saw a quote from Blythe that they didn't know CJ was going to boot on that virtual last play of the game. I loved the play call and it surprised the hell out of me, that's for sure

interesting. It must have been like the 85 bootleg and the coaches instructed CJ not to tell his teammates he was going to keep the rock. KF definitely said in the post game show that BF made the call.

It's my feeling that BF has more to do with the way this team is playing on gameday (and in their preparation for gameday) than many know at this point in his coaching career. The interaction between CJB and BF after the bootleg said a lot...something special is a brewin'.

Some of the things he does are pretty amazing. He is so talented and the fact that he is doing this good when he is injured is just flat out crazy.

CJ just has "it." He is cool and composed and you can see it on the field that he is a leader. Tate was wonderful ... Tate was also a little on the "emotional side" when it came to playing. But I loved Tate's intensity. CJ is unique ... Iowa has had lots of great QBs in the past ... In my 35 years of following the Hawks, CJ definitely ranks in the Top 5 ... Not saying statisically speaking; just overall for what he means to the team.
