Iowa has the best point guard in the nation

Jordan’s a lock down defender. Any points he gives us is just a bonus.

Nobody’s scored 60 on him this whole season. And think of all the great pg’s in the B1G. None of them have scored 60 on JBo. None.

So the guy that is the all time leader in assists and top 15 score isn't a good point guard ? I'm pretty sure he is good enough.
As you've mentioned, Bohannon has accumulated some pretty gnarly statistics when you look at the big picture but he's also very, very one-dimensional that provides "spotty" defense at best.

Every team that has high aspirations needs a PG that is a threat to penetrate and get to the hoop.

This topic isn’t off base...but in the context of the thread title it is. We have a great team, #9 currently. And nobody on our roster at that position makes us any better.

Fran doesn’t have time for a guy like Joe T to ‘get it’ all of a sudden after a dumb turnover, dribbling down the lane to nowhere and pivoting 11x real fast, then pick up a foul 35 feet from the basket. All in the span of 3 mins.

I am a fan of Joe T and JBo in together more. But our offense just doesn’t run the same w Joe T running it. Sorry, unpopular I know.

I agree completely. I am hoping the light will come on for Joe T. in the near future but it is still flickering sporadically.

Quit beating that horse, it’s dead already.
No one on this team, save Garza obviously, is irreplaceable. Love CJ, but there are better shooting guards. Love JoeW, but there are better small forwards. Our power forward position is worse than point guard. Jordan is who he is, he is who we have. To saddle this kid with the idea that HE is the problem is unfair. If we had Suggs, sure I’d like our chances at a national championship, but this TEAM’s ceiling falls somewhere short of that imo.

Lets put things in perspective. JBo was an above average PG who probably should have been a two. He was a great shooter and ball distributor. However, two (3?) major surgeries has affected his play. He never was quick enough to beat defenders to the basket. He still stabilizes the team and is the go to guy at the end of a game. He was never a great defender and is one of main reasons we play so much zone. But, he is by far, the best PG we have. He would be better if he did not have to play so many minutes.

A healthy CJ mitigates some of what Jbo isn't great at. Best shot for Iowa to advance in the tournament is to have CJ 100%. Hard to argue with #9 ranking but it would be nice to see Joe T. or Ulis able to handle some of the PG duties to allow Jbo to hunt shots. I like Joe T. but he remains very inconsistent and mistake prone. His best asset is to drive but it's like the brakes on the car don't work when tries to stop. It will be interesting to see if Joe T. stays or chooses to pursue another opportunity / system that is a better fit. He may just need the confidence that comes from more consistent PT.

how can you be one dimensional if you are near the top of the record books at Iowa in assists and three pointers?

Although I assume Jordan will be all Big 10 since he nevers leaves the game.

You 2 really just need an "I hate JoBo" board. Your posts are pretty redundant.

Two weeks ago when he was playing poorly I questioned why we didn't give a few minutes to our other point guards. But you call that hate.
