This was a no brainer and long overdue. As long as the ice cream machine still works the gray hairs will be happy.

With more ice cream it may not be ‘thinning’I am more thinning than gray and I want the ice cream machines to work
Nice first go imo. Personally I’d like to see that at both ends.
Which section are they starting with? The other end is the wheelchair area so there is no way they get rid of that.
Their plan is to expand a section each year if the students show up and justify giving them premium seating.
no one knows because only 20 showed up on Monday nightDid they move them this year?
Not a solid start, hopefully as the games get betterno one knows because only 20 showed up on Monday night
Impossible to say from only watching on btn+…god that’s a garbage service. Not a solid start, hopefully as the games get better
From the pictures I saw everyone could move closer to the courtImpossible to say from only watching on btn+…god that’s a garbage service.

It was a sad effort all the way aroundI had a facetime from a buddy last night for about 7 minutes at carver, it was an improved broadcast
The only students there are cheerleaders and pep bandA little closer, anyway, so Beth says. Getting students around the floor of Carver the way they do at Michigan State and Illinois and many other arenas is, apparently, like trying to arrange peace in the Middle East . . . all but impossible. But the effort continues in Iowa City.
Meanwhile, MSU and those other schools have had students in the bottom 10 rows or so all around the court for years and years. And somehow they still get the old folks and the big donors and everyone else into the building. It makes me wonder why it's so difficult in Iowa City. Ask MSU how in the world they figured it out, and maybe do what they did. Could what works in East Lansing possibly work way out west in Iowa City?
Anyway, I guess as long as the ice cream machines are working, it can't be all bad . . .
Lots of students from Illinois and foreign countriesThey need to form a task force with the students to get a deeper understanding of the issue
That needs to changeThe only students there are cheerleaders and pep band
They can still show up and cheer if the setup is improved.Lots of students from Illinois and foreign countries
Or not and we will wind up with a ring one deep around the arena.Very few students seem to go to the games. I guess this could incentivize them a little.
I mean, Iowa state?Over/under on the first game with 10k actual attendance?
Maybe Northwestern on a Tuesday night at 6:00, but yeah, otherwise ISU.I mean, Iowa state?
It's a tough spot. Do you give the students too much space and it looks even worse or do you make it a smaller section until they start filling that?Or not and we will wind up with a ring one deep around the arena.
The only thing in Carver that's ever moved slower than the ice cream line is Lickliter's lineupsI am more thinning than gray and I want the ice cream machines to work
I have had molasses from the fridge that moved faster than Licks teams. Too soon? The only thing in Carver that's ever moved slower than the ice cream line is Lickliter's lineups
I watched UCLA and Oregon play home games this week, and both had large sections of empty seats visible on the sideline. And Oregon was playing Portland, so you would think an in-state team would help attendance. Are there any success stories out there from programs similar to Iowa? We see Duke, MSU, Kansas, etc. but who is doing it well in the middle of the pack?
Hopefully some of those seats can get filled and generate some enthusiasm. The arena can deliver energy in spite of its flaws.Difference between moline and carver is the actual fans got to sit within the first 10 rows. Carver, the season ticket holders are families that can afford $2000+ donation and have had tickets for 30 years. They attend maybe the weekend games and that's it.
Take a look at the prime seats during the midweek games. Half will be empty.
I would say move down to those seats if you are at the game, but I would probably prefer to be 10-15 rows up anyway. Better view and you are closer to the Carver cones.Difference between moline and carver is the actual fans got to sit within the first 10 rows. With all of that open space down on the floor can they bring a few Carver Cone machines down there to serve the students?
