As A loyal Hawkeye Fan I am a little concerned about are recruiting for the future. Obviously we got Lee, Warner and Myron and Cassiopi coming up but it concerns me that we don't have very many recruits in the national ranks on flowrestling any updates I should be aware of?

This has been talked about ad nauseum. Yes, keeping up with the jones' is a concern.
Coaches continue to recruit high level recruits and spend up to our 9.9 allocation. We have good relationships with a few stud recruits, nothing official.

2020 will be the class Hawk fans get really excited for!
Agreed, we pretty much have all of the studs in the lineup or committed right now for the Lee/Warner/Murin lineups, not many instant impact guys (that i know of) who are interested in the hawks in 2019 class. I'm sure we'll still get 1 or 2 good guys in 2019, but much like this year, we don't have much coming off the books with only Stoll leaving next year. 2020 will be the next group of studs that will be the basis for title contending teams in 2022 and beyond with maybe someone in that group being good enough to go in 2021 so they'll be able to help out with the tail end of the Lee/Warner/Murin run.

Yet another redundant recruiting thread. What's next, a thread about Terry's green sweater? Gilman talking to Metcalf? A 30-page thread about Suriano's departure from PSU? You would think we are collectively smarter than the Fball & Bball boards.

I can see it from a blue-chipper's perspective. Do you want to come here right now and sit behind:

Lee at 125?
Kemerer at 157/65?
Bull at 165/74?
Warner at 197?
Cassioppi at HWT?

We're basically taking five weights completely off the board for the next 3-4 years, which doesn't even take in to account Lugo at 49, Murin at 41/49, Young at 65/74, and the coach's stud wrestler kid somewhere around 165/74/84......I think that's why many of us are focusing more on the 2020 and 2021 classes to fill in gaps once these stud guys are upperclassman and their "final" weight is better known, and we're content with that reality.

I can't for the life of me figure why a stud 133 doesn't want to come to our room and roll with the best in the business, but I can see how the middleweights and heavies could be a little reluctant to come here and enter the fray with those five studs blocking the on-ramp in front of them.

Kind of a nice problem to have, when you think about it that way.....

How about a thread about your disrespect? I'd like to think that if your married you'd show your wife better respect but then if your married she can't be to bright.

I agree we're in good shape. Sometimes talk makes it sound like the cupboard is bare, but with the guns on board and a few targeted recruits who can potentially step in right away, the Hawks will be in great shape.

I'm going to start a thread tomorrow - "Hows Come The Coaches Di'int No Cory Clark Graduated."

A couple of notes 'the' should be 'dem'
Hows come dem coaches And you didn't throw rasslin(whatever that is) in there somehow. Lol

Wonder if they are looking at Malik Johnson as a future 133. He wrestled in Carver recently although he didn’t seem thrilled with the fans pulling for the Iowa boy.

Malik Johnson committed to Missouri, I think. Not sure if that was a verbal or signed.

Yes, and Terry's Green Sweater should have its own Twitter handle too. We've got more than 2 weeks until Midlands...have to talk about something ;)

The time from the last dual in early December to Midlands...............

is the Longest 6 months of the year............

The solution to 133 has already been laid out on the forum. Go after international studs. Eastern Europe/Russia. World medalists. NCAA eligible. Kind of surprised schools haven't been doing this already. I suppose the admission requirements are a hindrance with most of these guys not speaking English. I'm sure the Russians can figure out a way to forge their transcripts though so shouldn't be an issue.

I'm hearing the solution to our woes at 133 are about to end. I'm hearing Murin to 133 and Lugo to 141. That would be a salty lineup if Spencer pulls his shirt and Downey gets his degree fron ISU and is at 184.

I can't handle that information drop. I've got to go to Star Wars in an hour and you drop this on me?

I don't live in Iowa City, so I am not in the room often, but the guy I heard it from said it is a real possibility. He could be wrong, but he isn't usually. Waiting for someone closer to the team to chime in. Would put us back in the hunt in my opinion.

Funny thing is I was talking to Lugo today and thinking he looks small for 149 and how it would be a perfect fit if he were to cut to 41. I never ask the question as don’t think it’s my business until it is announced or if coaches want it to go public. Would put us in the hunt for sure

You’re in the room everyday and this just dawned on you?

Yeah, just really slow that way. Of course not, what a stupid comment. Have had numerous conversations about him going at 41 dating back to last summer. However, today asked him how he was feeling and how his weight was. He said it was good. So I had that specific thought again today, ok? Don’t think it was really a consideration until first the Downey situation is becoming real and now Spencer looks healthy.

It’s certainly an idea. Personally, I’d use my time and resources recruiting kids that spent time working on a top and bottom game. ‘Merica!

Can take Glynn who has trained top and bottom or a world champ Russian in freestyle. I take the world champ.

You’ll never ever get a world champ from Russia. They are treated like royalty over there. You could go ahead and waste your time and resources recruiting guys overseas that most likely would never come to fruition. All the while, PSU and Ohio State are on the recruiting trail right here in the good ol USA focusing on kids that are hammers in all 3 positions.
