Iowa sets aside almost $180 million for year two of voucher program

I've posted this many times, it's the rural school districts that are losing out the most under Kim Reynolds and the current legislature. The kids of Dowling and IC Regina didn't need a leg up in life, but here we are subsidizing their private schooling. Meanwhile, there are ZERO mechanisms in place to make sure fraud and waste aren't rampant, and nothing was built into the law to keep schools from simply matching up a tuition raise to meet the state funding.
This is what happens when an out of state think tank writes the legislation, and it gets jammed through with little input. Kim and the legislature crammed this through knowing it was unpopular with the people.
The tuition hikes have already happened in many places. Private schools getting hikes in revenue while families that can afford private schools get a significant discount. All funded by the taxpayers and to the detriment of public schools.

Tuition hikes are happening because your President Biden has made inflation rampant.

Fvck Governor Dim Reynolds.
Sorry but you cant be taken seriously with any education discussion. You didnt even pause to do any research when you claimed no background checks were required of teachers. Move to another thread please and let the adults talk. You have nothing of value to offer here given your prior lies/inaccuracies.

What are the background check requirements for all private schools?

Yeah, but think of all the owning of the libs that's going on. National Guard troops to the border! No more DEI and "pronouns" at the Regents schools!

So what does a year at Dowling, Heelan, Kuemper, Xavier, Assumption, Pella Christian, Colimbus run these days? Have they jacked up their prices since this was rolled out?

There is a private K through eighth grade school in town that as soon as this was passed raised its tuition to match the dollar amount and is now planning a $4 million addition due to the influx of taxpayer cash.
The private school must be a better product than the public school. Also, the $4 Million additional is likely from a capital campaign from donors, not taxpayers.

LOL. What measurements are you using to determine that the private school is better?

The nonsense you will spew to try and justify this grift is hilarious.

There are more important things, but I truly think this is wrong.

The irony of this is that the "important things" are most likely abortion related. In that case aren't you cutting off your nose to spite your face? Make the birth mandatory to only give the child a shitty upbringing/education?

Your governor’s $$ give-away to private / parochial schools is INFLATIONARY kin and by itself to the private school industry in Iowa…..Pres Biden has NOTHING to do with it, you moron!
interesting take...Milton Friedman should give back his nobel prize. Your insights on inflation are earth shattering. Thank you for enlightening the rest of us on the power of our governor to create money out of thin air.

Yep, Dowling and Regina have opened schools in every rural school district. It has been a real money maker for them. Families are suffering like never before, Good grief..

Everybody should have a chance. Sometimes you get hit with both ends of the shitstick. It sucks but that's life. Heavy emphasis on life.

I just can't believe they brag about a billion dollar surplus and then are giving an 8th of it away in one year to people who aren't truly in need.

Some are looking for athletic advantages, some have kids that need coddling, some want to brag, some want to avoid diversity and a few care about religious education.
None of the above.

How about some want a better education for their children without the woke indoctrination. Others want religion to be part of ones education. Others want their children educated in an environment of respect for students and staff which is not found in the failing public schools in Iowa.

Some are just looking for the best education they can get with least distraction s from the riff raff no goals types.

Almost all pariochial kids get post HS education/service in military. Countless public school kids in certain cities do next to nothing after HS. Parents want their kids exposed to the least distractions so send them to schools where the majority of kids have 2 parents and are gainfully employed. It's called modeling

Yes, well to do families have children that tend to go to college. JFC.

Said the same myself in another thread a couple days ago.

I've disagreed with Reynolds on a handful of things recently. In Solar's world that means I'm tucking my tail between my legs.

When House Republicans damn near evenly split on the recent foreign aid bill, many libs, while doing a victory dance, mocked Republicans. It's just odd behavior by them.
