Nothing will surprise me at 174. I was firmly on the Nelson bandwagon and the only surprise so far is that he hasn’t scored any offensive points. I’m hoping he comes around or we see another 74/84 combo. We need high AAs at 74 and 84 if we want to give PSU any challenge…

With Brands, if you get the first period TD, the match is basically over. He has nothing to get it back. I think you're going to see more people be aggressive with him early in the match to try to get on top knowing he can't come back.

I wouldn't go that far. Brands almost had a TD in the 3rd...and this opponent was no slouch. But it appeared pretty obvious that Brands is having some degree of difficulty getting TDs against decent opponents, which isn't a good thing IMO.

And the more I think about it, an injury affecting his performance doesn’t make much sense, either. There are too many plug-and-play options in the room at that weight.

agreed there is no reason they would send a banged up guy out there at 174 in nov when there is so much depth.

How about little Johnny Lickliter? That was a dark period for MBB.

Little Lick and Connor were very similar.

Little Lick could shoot because nobody guarded him.
Connor could pass because nobody guarded him.
Neither guy could rebound or defend. However, LL only played because there was nobody else available.
Other similarities are that both guys made the rest of the team worse because they played 5 on 4.
Kris Murray as a freshman was a better reb
under and defender than Cmac or Pmac ever became.
