People are gonna hate it. College fans are gonna realize how slow and boring college is going back and forth. And let's say it's tie dual after 184 here come Warner vs Ferrari but not yet back to freestyle. Gonna be a bad idea. Issue is American fans could care a less about USA vs Iran and the only way to have fans in the seats is this format. And instead of trying to work to promote and market the freestyle dual they took the easy way out

I agree with most of this. My question is what do you think are the better options?

One idea I thought would be a 3 match freestyle exhibition during intermission. College fans are used to a break in the middle anyway, so it wouldn’t ruin the normal flow to have 3 freestyle matches in the middle. I think Iowa should do this with the HWC women this year.

What would be the way to have the freestyle dual standalone? With the makeup of the current freestyle team, I think Iran vs USA in state college would probably be a really great environment. I think you could do something like a PSU dual on a Friday and then the freestyle dual on Saturday afternoon. Given what I saw at the World Cup, I think Carver is too big of a venue without having Hawkeye representation.

Anyway, just some thoughts because these USA vs another country freestyle duals would be awesome. I hope they can continue to work and refine a good format.

They're promoting Wrestling in Texas, and Iowa vs Oklahoma State is as good a way as any to do that. It's definitely a unique format, and some may like it, some won't. If you're going you'll have to deal with it as best you can.

I wouldn't travel to Texas to watch USA vs Iran but I will think long and hard about traveling to Texas to watch "boring" College Wrestling with Iowa vs Okie State.

It's in a large Metro area, we'll see if they'll be able to attract the casual Texas Wrestling Fan. Okie State should be well represented one would hope. Iowa also has National Duals in Florida, in a much smaller venue, but it will stretch some pocketbooks trying to hit both of these really good Hawkeye events.

The Grapple on the Gridiron was the perfect storm with an Iowa Football game the same night in the same venue. Gonna be damn difficult to duplicate that.

It’s should be one after the other, I’m sure the coaches and venue had long conversations on how they will set it up. Im glad they are doing it and pushing larger venues.
There are drawbacks but the positives out way the negatives.

Yep I couldn't find a way either. Can see the tickets using the code but it's requiring a login to complete the purchase.

Edit: I finally got it to work. All ticketed up!
