Recent history tells me polls or projections aren't worth a damn!!

I think w/ next years schedule, what we lose on both sides of the ball, Ferentz wants best shot at a W to build a little momentum into off season. I think he wants a more manageable opponent like Missourah and a closer location, like Music City.

20+ years in to Kirk’s career and we’re hoping for a crappy bowl opponent to build confidence into the next season cause the schedule is tough
This is such a weird angle that I see far too often.

In the history of coaching football, there is not one example of a perpetually ascending trajectory into eternity.

About 20 years since the 2005 Outback screw job too where Iowa was used a spring board for Florida momentum into 2006 and the refs were going to be sure of it. Ferentz has seen this song and dance before.

We haven't played against Florida since, and I think Ferentz might have something to do with that.

No.

But maybe field a team that stands a chance against better competition consistently.

We’re going on 4+ years of beating someone with a pulse.

And without the west division, Iowa’s chances of making CCG has dropped

So for me it’s consistently having a shot at being one of the 12 playoff spots. Not every year, like 2025 would be difficult even with a strong roster, but more often than not let’s not have our season over in October

Minnesota had a pulse this year. Win @ #10 Iowa State 3 years ago was a win against someone with a pulse. There's probably more too.

This is the Iowa fan base in a nutshell. Bag on ISU for winning 10 games in a bad conference, then turn around and hope to get an easier opponent in the bowl so hopefully we win and can brag about it. Silly Iowa fans are silly.

Kirk has something to do with picking our bowl opponents? If so, he needs to retire.

Hope 2025 is a difficult schedule, find a way to go 10-2 and get into the play offs due to that difficult schedule if Iowa can find a game manager with better downfield passing to wr’s that compliment Iowa’s run and tightend play. I don’t understand why this is so difficult for a guy making $7 million plus a year when you’ve got Phil Parker as DC and Levar Woods as your ST coordinator.

This is pretty good analysis, and given the fact @Hawktagonapus hit the 🤣 emoji that is incontrovertible confirmation.

Iowa State finished that season 7-6.

Perhaps “with a pulse” is overstated, but it is true Iowa hasn’t been competitive in games vs. a legit top 25 team in a long time.

In fact, if not for a meaningless late touchdown by Kaleb Johnson in the Ohio State game, Iowa would have a whopping zero points against legit top 25 teams in four tries. As it is, because of that single Kaleb Johnson run, Iowa has managed exactly 7 points in the last four games against top 25 teams.

Seven. ****ing. Points.

In four games.

Just stop. 🛑

Haven't beaten a team that finished in the Top 25 since Minnesota November 2019.
0 -9 vs teams that finished in the Top 25 during the same period.

Who knows? Maybe they've had multiple offers. You certainly don't know.

No, I don’t know. I’m not sure how many people actually would. I guess it’s possible Barta got the call, asked Kirk and they made a decision to turn it down. You would have to assume, they knew they would get into another bowl. It’s possible that several bowls contact the ADs office and they get to choose.

Iowa will stand a chance against better competition when they aren't one of the worst passing teams in the country. Until then why play an opponent that assures you of getting embarrassed on national TV?

I don’t really care as I can’t attend, but please let it be Music City over the Mayo bowl….Mayo is about the most disgusting thing ever, and to watch the hawks playing in the Mayo bowl….yuck.
