I picked Iowa to fall to the Sooners in my bracket, and I still think they get the home cooking refs today.

Go hawks!

I think we have a really good shot. In Saturday's 23 point win over 14 seed Florida Gulf Coast, OU only shot 39% overall and 31% from three. They also missed 5 FTs (11-16 for 69%).

These 8 players average a total of 77 points/game.

Oklahoma's Starting 5 Saturday:
Payton Verhulst........6'1 Sr G......14.9 pts. 5.8 rebs, 4.0 assts, 42.6 FG%
Reyna Scott.............5'10 Jr G........4.7 pts. 1.7 rebs, 2.1 assts, 45.6 FG%
Sahara Williams.....5'11 So F........10.7 pts. 4.7 rebs, 2.2 assts, 40.7 FG%
Skylar Vann...............6'0 Sr F........9.8 pts. 4.9 rebs, 2.7 assts, 41.0 FG%
Raegan Beers.............6'4 Jr C........17.7 pts. 9.2 rebs, 1.1 assts, 65.0 FG%

3 Players off the Bench Saturday who Average Double Digit Minutes for the Season:
Liz Scott......................6'2 Sr F........6.6 pts. 4.8 rebs, 1.3 assts, 53.0 FG%
Zya Vann.....................5'9 Fr G........7.0 pts. 2.4 rebs, 1.9 assts, 42.4 FG%
Lexy Keys....................5'7 Sr G........5.6 pts. 2.2 rebs, 1.8 assts, 39.1 FG%

Raegan Beers, their 6'4 Jr Center, is a load. As mentioned above, she averages 17.7 pts. 9.2 rebs, 1.1 assts and makes most of what she throws up (65.0 FG%).

She had a double-double (25 pts, 18 rebs) on Saturday vs FGCU.

Hawks need to rebound & limit 2nd chance points.

In Saturday's win, OU shot 31-80 (39%).

However, OU rebounded 47% of their misses (23 offensive rebounds; 49 missed shots).

Did anybody even watch the game? Their tallest two players are 6 foot one wing/guards. Everybody else is 5 foot 11 and shorter. There was nothing but a mismatch every time she got the ball. That’s not gonna happen with the Hawkeyes. Myself I think she’s in for a rough game. Now I might add I only watched parts of the game and I couldn’t believe the players they had up against her. If there was a taller player, my mistake I didn’t see it.

FGCU roster shows two listed at 6'1" and then one at 5'11".

I'm sharing this link to the roster, because I find it interesting that they list every player on the team with the position of SHOOTER

Not sure if I ever shared this, but a while back some guy at my work got canned bc he spent all his time doing fantasy football. Wasn't hitting marks and every time the owner went to talk to him he had ESPN up. So the owner had IT firewall all of ESPN, even though we can still access almost every other sports wesbite.

So.... since I can use my ESPN account, I'm gonna need that link Fran.

As always, will be a tough game. As for Beers, AOG and Hannah have been up against Boston, Cardozo, Reese, Betts, and Crooks. Beers is very good, but we played against the best and we won't back down.
Like almost all the bigs in the women's game, Beers is "good" because she's tall and, in her case, also the size of two barns. She only shoots 65% despite shooting virtually nothing but layups. Let's see her try to keep up with Stuelke, Heiden, O'Grady, and even Ediger. Iowa has four solid centers to run at Beers & Co. And I mean run. I watched the entire OU-FGCU game and was highly unimpressed. It was a close game going to the fourth. The only way OU stays with Iowa is if the Hawkeyes don't shoot well, which the running game should help avoid, and if they get the same old Iowa treatment from the refs. I expect more of the same from the officials, but these Hawkeyes will play through it and win anyway. But damn, playing 5 on 8 is getting old, very, very old.

Good observations. I saw the whole game, and I'm not sure OU is ready for what Iowa's gonna bring, which I hope will include some full-court pressure right off the opening tip to throw OU out of rhythm and begin the process of wearing them down. I noticed the BPI gives OU a 73% chance to win. That's ridiculous. And I think the Hawkeyes will show why.

About those interviews from yesterday: Sydney Affolter projecting a great deal of confidence. Did anyone else catch that from her?
