Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

Have we heard anything on Skinner? Anyone? lol

She must keep it very very quiet because no one knows anything!
She's taken unofficial visits to Utah, Arizona, BYU, North Carolina, and Utah State. On top of those she has offers from UCLA, USC, Louisville, Oklahoma, and probably others. Overall she seems to keep her recruitment more quiet than other top targets like Greenway and Bjorn. She hasn't released a list of top schools.

Utah is the only major program that's anywhere close to her hometown of Millville, Utah. If she doesn't want to go to Utah, none of the other schools Iowa is competing with have a geographic advantage.

Can we get back on the topic of 2025 recruiting by chance🙃
Well here’s some totally meaningless but fun findings from my latest round of social media stalking….

Iowa certainly has a fan in Layla Hays’ mom. She basically Likes everything Jan posts (at minimum). Her Likes look like Addie Deal’s. The only other team she’s Liked anything about is EWU — where her other daughter plays.

Layla also Liked a tweet someone tagged her in this week that said “Iowa has a great Deal for you — come join the fun!”

Didn't change my argument at all. Not my fault you're too big of an idiot to understand
Of course you changed your argument. At first you said there would be a problem if the Iowa players were listening to the music. Then you said there would be a problem if the Iowa players were listening to the music and singing along. Two different arguments.

Was Skinner's visit an official visit? All her other visits were unofficial so she could have a lot of visits to take. She certainly saw everything Iowa has to offer. Crazy environment on senior day.

Thinking of a lineup with Deal, Skinner, Mallegni, Heiden, Hays, Houston & others is certainly enticing. Don't forget about Aaliyah Guyton. She was averaging 27 pts a game this year before her knee injury. If she can get back to her old self, that would be significant.

We are in a good spot with Jordan Speiser to correct?
It seems so. She likes a lot of Iowa wbb content on Twitter, I even saw a non-Wbb Post about general athletics or something in there. Someone tweeted Iowa needs to recruit her and she Liked that.

She’s been to campus a few times at least. Bluder visited her recently. I think Notre Dame and K-State are her other top offers. Kinda nice that K-State has flamed out lol. She does seem to cheer for Notre Dame. Iowa State wants her too.

Her dad (I assume) tweeted about how proud he was of her and mentioned she had an offer from LSU.

They've got 3 spots open for 2025 if they choose to use them. There are quite a few prospects with offers. I think they're in a good spot with Hays. Will be interesting to see how they finish out this class.

For Sunday's recruiting visits, I don't have any names confirmed, but I took a look at their HS schedules to see who would make sense. Here's what I found:

Taliyah Henderson- Her state championship game is Thursday night. No scheduling issue for a Sunday visit.

Destiny Jackson-
Her team lost in the playoffs, so she doesn’t have any scheduling issues.

Adelaide Jernigan-
They have a playoff game on Friday, but don’t play again until Tuesday. She could certainly visit Sunday.

Jordan Spieser- Her HS has a game tonight, and would have another on Friday. After that, they wouldn’t play again until Monday. A visit on Sunday should work for her scheduled, though it’s a little tighter than Jernigan’s.

Addie Deal- She’s injured, so she could conceivably come to the game Sunday regardless of her high school’s schedule. That said, her HS has a game tonight, and if they win they play Saturday night. Not sure she’d plan a visit to Iowa when her HS might have an important playoff game the night before.

Brynn McGaughy- Her HS team has a state tournament game on Thursday, and they would play Friday and Saturday with victories. I’d be surprised if she planned to attend Sunday with a possible state final Saturday.

Layla Hays- Just visited. I doubt she’d make another visit so soon.

2026

Jenica Lewis- State championship game is Friday night. No scheduling issue. Another visit seems very possible.

Addison Bjorn- Same playoff schedule as Spieser. She has room in her schedule to visit, but it might be tight if they play Monday.

Maddyn Greenway
- Has a playoff game Saturday at 7pm. Could conceivably make the trip Sunday morning, but doubtful.

If there's anyone else you want to know about just mention them and I can take a look.
Nice group of talent

Not sure if I have seen a lot with her linked to Iowa, That said Bella Hines announced her top 10 and Iowa is on her list. Sorry not a twitter/X user so no link.

I think Baylor and Arizona will be tough to beat out for her services.
From what I'm aware, LSU thinks they are in the lead and have been prioritizing her. I confirmed on X that they are getting ready to host her on an official visit next weekend.

You may be right. She has signed with an agent in Dallas as a high school junior. That's what made me think Baylor but LSU has deep NIL pockets.

So for the class, Iowa has commitments from ESPN's #12 (Addie Deal) and ESPN's #36 (Journey Houston).

Iowa is in the Top 12 for ESPN #15 Brynn McGaughy

Iowa is in the Top 10 for ESPN #31 Bella Hines

Iowa is in the Top 10 for ESPN #45 Adelaide Jernigan

ESPN #10 Emilee Skinner, #20 Jordan Speiser, and UR Layla Hays haven't released Top 10s, but Iowa would presumably make such a list.

Iowa is also seemingly in the mix for #9 Divine Bourrage and #34 Taliyah Henderson, though the former looks unlikely and the later hasn't visited.

I thought we decided this argument was over. Take it out back, boys.

Arizona has imploded tho with their best player leaving the team in the middle of the season. Another (two? can’t remember) left as well and posted how their coach fosters a toxic environment. It’s rly bad tbh. Kinda makes LSU’s drama look run of the mill.

Does anyone have any idea when the LSU offer came (or any others)? This summer Hines did an interview where she said Iowa was one of her Top 2 offers. Not sure what that rly means tbh (could have meant 2 highest ranked or 2 most impressive — she didn’t list any others IIRC). She probably didn’t have all these offers then…so I’m curious about the timeline…

One thing I think people need to consider with regard to visits is that a lot of players haven’t made a ton yet. Their basketball season just ended. Spring and summer are prime visit time. Wouldn’t be shocked if she comes (same with Jernigan and McGaughy) later. Remember Guyton took 5 final visits in late summer / early fall before committing in September of her senior year. Jazzy Brown (KJE’s BFF/teammate who chose Miss St over us, tho we were in her Top 4) did the same and committed in November.

Notice TCU and K-State…very interesting.

FWIW we also made the Top 15 (eyeroll lol) for W Dee Alexander of Ohio.

At this point, I'm not sure where to find the best discussions on this season and the NCAA tourney. Where is everyone going for this?

Getting her on campus for a game is HUGE. Seeing our game day environment live in CHA is one of our biggest selling points.

We have so many good guard prospects, so if we got her to commit (6-3 | F), it would be a massive land for our recruiting class. Also, our continued recruiting footprint on the West Coast. 😎🤞

The tweet from Huesmann said they were hosting on Sunday. Is she not coming to a game?
