Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

I don’t think we’re in a position yet to be turning down a Top 60 recruit with an offer from Ohio State. It seems Bluder isn’t sold on any of our other ‘24 guards playing the 1, so we likely have the need as well.

Besides, if she doesn’t choose us she will likely end up at Nebraska or Illinois and will torture us for four years.
She seems to have the quickness to take most defenders off the dribble and be a pest to the opposing point on defense. Her kicking out to Addie Deal on the wing sounds good to me 🙌

Bluder did say she was going to go all in for her.

Also IU fans will be livid if she becomes a hawk lol that alone would be worth the get.
Guyton isn’t considering Indiana so I’m not sure they would care.

Most fans don’t know who she is considering, only who her dad is. And it seems their hate for Iowa exceeds even that of Iowa State lmao after the last couple seasons.

I believe IU is meant to be Illinois who are in her top 5
Her dad played for Indiana. I have seen a few IU fans on Twitter (I am also an IU fan if I’m being honest, they’re probably my second favorite team lol) express displeasure in her top 5 lol.

Not doubting you, but why is that?
She grew up in Clinton, coached at Loras and said she has always been a Big Ten fan, it was where she wanted to be. I guess she could have cheered for Illinois but then she probably would have said that instead haha.

Haven’t heard much about Nebraska in the Guyton games. Wonder what’s happening there.

Furthermore, I wonder how Guyton would feel about committing when Britt Prince’s decision is still TBD. And vice-versa.

Along the same lines (and back to 2025)…I wonder how Addie Deal feels about us signing Journey Houston. Seems they’re both ideally SFs, no?

I think she might be leaning toward the Hawks based on her reactions to a reporter when asked about her final 5. Her face really lit up when Iowa came up, and she mentioned specifically her love for Coach Bluder and the program. . Right now it looks like Iowa and Illinois are going all out for her, guns blazin'. Seems like Bluder believes she's that PG she's been looking for.

She said the number one thing she is looking for is consistency. She said it about ten times I think. If that’s the truth, that bodes very well for the hawks. Still, kids are kids.

Coached at Loras? I probably missed something.

Thought I read she was going to do her officials with each school before deciding. Pretty sure she has visited Pitt and Illinois already.

From the highlights I've seen I think Deal could play the 2. Iowa has had shorter 2s lately, but I don't think having a taller 2 is an issue as long as she can keep up with quicker guards.

I think the bigger roster construction issue if Guyton commits is that Guyton, Levin, Stremlow, and Johnson are all probably limited to the 1 or 2.

Then you get into 2026 and two of Iowa's top targets are Lewis and Greenway who are... also probably limited to the 1 or 2.

Who would she be
Seems odd. Zania had announced 8 finalists on 8/22, according to WBBblog, including IU, Michigan and MD. Iowa not on list.
I thought so as well but there's quite a few signs that point to it. I would guess the staff has been following her progress, received some type of communication about potential interest, and are following up. Has a similar feel to bringing in a football recruit for a visit out of the blue right before signing day. 🤔 That’s my take anyway, certainly could be wrong.

Raina was also in Detroit a few days ago. Could have been personal business tho.

Any idea which WBB recruits are in town this weekend? Coach Jensen’s tweet has us all curious.

From the Omaha paper today:

Good news for local basketball fans wondering about the college destination of Elkhorn North’s Britt Prince.

Nebraska and Creighton are on the short list.

Prince, one of the state’s most heavily recruited high school athletes ever, received 35 Division I scholarship offers. The 5-foot-11 senior guard has whittled that list to 11 and is expected to make her decision in less than two months.

“It’s a process that started when she was in the eighth grade,” said Ann Prince, Britt’s mother and high school coach. “I think it was May of her eighth-grade year when I heard from the first college coach.”

The pared-down list of collegiate landing places for the high-scoring guard are Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Carolina, Baylor, USC and Louisville.

Ann Prince said her daughter had cut down that list even more but won’t go into any more specifics until planning to sign in early November.
