Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

From the Omaha paper today:

Good news for local basketball fans wondering about the college destination of Elkhorn North’s Britt Prince.

Nebraska and Creighton are on the short list.

Prince, one of the state’s most heavily recruited high school athletes ever, received 35 Division I scholarship offers. The 5-foot-11 senior guard has whittled that list to 11 and is expected to make her decision in less than two months.

“It’s a process that started when she was in the eighth grade,” said Ann Prince, Britt’s mother and high school coach. “I think it was May of her eighth-grade year when I heard from the first college coach.”

The pared-down list of collegiate landing places for the high-scoring guard are Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Carolina, Baylor, USC and Louisville.

Ann Prince said her daughter had cut down that list even more but won’t go into any more specifics until planning to sign in early November.
Little reason to think that Iowa is on the secret short list, correct?

Prince would fit in well at Louisville.
Mostly hoping she will pick a non-BIG and non-ISU option, but a little bit hoping she picks Nebraska and helps keep the BIG’s improvement going.

Didn’t Ann Prince get hired at Nebraska? Thought I had read that somewhere.
There was a (conspiracy?) theory that she would only go to UNL if they hired her mom. It died when they hired someone recently and it wasn’t her.

Hawk women got a lot of Pub at the game yesterday. Nice tribute to Caitlin and great interview with Coach Bluder. Thought I read that Iowa had recruits in yesterday. They had to be impressed.

Interesting’25 offer. She is among the lowest, if not the lowest ranked Iowa ‘25 offer. Unimpressive offer list, except Mississippi State, where new coach Sam Purcell is an elite recruiter.

Cant find much video for her, mostly layups. She seems to have some connection to OGrady? It might be that she has size, is not shy about contact, and they think they can develop her like they did Cinzano? Jan prefers old school posts, and so a true post might get a better look than a face up shooter.

Love that video LOL! … a little bit of FAFO for the opponents who ended up on the hardwood, must have been some bad blood there. MG clone? Who knows.

Coaches have been following her for a while & hadn't offered until now. To me, that would indicate the staff doesn't like where they are sitting with current post offers. If Heiden is legit, a post in 2025 is probably for depth.

It could be they are looking to add depth with three centers projected to leave in the next year or two? Aj and addie finish up in 2025, Sharon could play one more, but seems like we loose one or more of them for a chance for more playing time.

Unless Sharon takes a big leap forward I’d be surprised if Bluder offers her a COVID year. I hope I’m wrong tho.

O'Grady's and Cook's high schools are only about 10 miles apart in the Denver suburbs. Schools likely play each other.

Different classes.....they do not typically play each other.
Good call, thanks. But due to the proximity, I'm guessing these Denver schools are attuned to Iowa after the commitment from O'Grady, and looks like Coach Bluder is hoping to develop a connection with those schools, and a stream of recruits from that area. I'd guess they also have an AAU team in common. I was looking at a couple of Cook's vids, and I think what Bluder likes about her is her strength, toughness, and warrior mentality. Something the Hawks have needed inside.

I hope Greenway commits just as bad as the rest of the class but the interest there seems to be pretty legit, and she's been to campus already (more than once?).

I'm hopeful it's another '25 prospect -- we really need to lock down a couple more of them and now's the time to do it. I remember Bella Hines saying she was considering a visit this fall...she's the kind of commit we need to do legwork with now.
