Iowa WBB Class of 2026 Recruiting Thread

I think there was a year when Coach Stringer had that kind of class! I am thinking they made it to the Hawkeye’s first final four!
No, she only coached them for one year prior to leaving for Rutgers. Angie Lee coached them for their final three seasons. They won a pair of conference titles, but only made the sweet sixteen one time.

Back to recruiting. The 2026 class is critically important with only 3 in the 2025 class. When that class arrives only nine women will be on the roster, unless they bring in a transfer. Plenty of minutes should be available.

I think bringing in a transfer is a no-brainer. After watching Olsen the last few games, give me a scoring guard. Two weeks ago I wanted a talented forward.

If your "she" is Stringer, she was at Iowa 1983-1995 with a Final Four in 1993. Overall record 269-84.

Been looking for but haven’t seen anything about Bjorn’s reported Texas visit.

Also wonder if there’ll be any potential recruits in Iowa City Sunday..

Couple of cursory google searches yields the same for me.

Pretty much crickets on the hornfans if Bjorn visited on the 16th. The hornfans forum is somewhat active. Couldn't find anything on either of their two threads on '26 recruiting.

On the 1st hornfans thread they posted about Olivia Vukosa on Sunday the 16th, but nothing on Bjorn.

On the 2nd hornfans thread they post about Bjorn coming on the 16th, but no inquiry after that on why she missed or is rescheduling.

No mention on either the boneyard or hornfans of a reschedule or cancel and both forums knew she was coming on their respective dates. Super odd that no one is really inquiring or looking into what's her status on a revisit.

Doesn't seem like normal behavior from either of these forums or why nothing is written elsewhere on why Bjorn missed those dates, made those two dates or is even rescheduling them.

@BraydonRoberts5 replied that snow could of possibility cancelled the visit on the 12th. The Texas visit seems to be a different situation. Makes no sense to miss TX as Crump is one of her best friends from what I hear.

Baffling!

This is only article I found so far that mentions either of these two visits and it's only a one-liner with no photos or quotes from anyone to verify it really happened or not. Also the visit to Texas is stated as the 15th in this article and not the 16th per Talia Goodman's tweet. I'm pretty sure the boneyard would have posted her visit on the thread they have designated just for her recruiting status.

"Addison Bjorn visited Geno Auriemma's UConn on Wednesday [12th] and will be heading to Texas on Saturday [15th, not the 16th]."

Still nothing about her visit posted on the boneyard yet like the sportskeeda article states.

Guess Addison doesn't mean much to these two programs.
Addison make IC your new home where your name will be in bright lights!

David Eickholt has a new paywall article out on our recruiting efforts today.

Anyone find any surprising nugget(s) in here we don't already know?

Otherwise, here's what I found with google searches on it.

Article Title: Iowa Women's Basketball Recruiting Buzz: The latest in the 2026 and 2027 classes

"Jan Jensen and company have been full court press on their future recruiting classes. They are involved with a number of high profile prospects and have a realistic shot at a number of them. Let's dive into some of our tidbits that we've gathered here."

Class of 2026:
1) "Harpring is a prospect that will visit a lot of the blue-bloods and her recruitment will stretch out. It's not a bad thing that Iowa's visit ..."
Nothing new here. This was already reported that see would be taking visits into spring and summer.

2) "A couple weeks ago, I thought that 2026 target was a UConn lean, but I may have spoke too soon. Let's be clear-- Iowa is right in the thick of it. Clay believes that Bjorn is a prospect that is going to take a few visits. Iowa has done a great job with the recruitment and there's ..."
Google AI interprets that as: "Iowa is considered to be leading the race to recruit Bjorn."
Would be surprised if this article or any other article goes that far to say we're in the driver's seat right now with Bjorn.

3 "If I had to bet today, I believe that Iowa would be the favorite for five-star forward McKenna Woliczko. There's a long way to go in that recruitment, but Iowa has done everything to be the frontrunner."
Like the sound of that. Much better than a long shot to land her I guess.

4) A possible surprise is a google search yielded nothing on Jenica Lewis. Thought for sure Lewis would be mentioned. If anything, just to confirm his crystal ball on her.
Doesn't mean Lewis isn't in this article, just a google search had crickets on her.

5) Nothing popped up for our remaining 2026 offers of:
Kussow, Ragone, Koupal, Byles, Crittendon, Jones, Krstevski, Vukosa, Hall, Robinson, Banks, Jackson, Miles or Bell
Again, doesn't mean they're not in this article, just a google search had crickets on them also.

Class of 2027:
6) "Lots of people have been excited about 2027 point guard Finley Chastain since she visited for Iowa's win over USC. At this point, I still believe that she'll be a Hawkeye. I wanted to get a better idea of her game and nobody knows the game better than Clay."
Believe he has stated this in a prior article.

7) Nothing popped up for our remaining 2027 offers of:
Williams, Wilson, Colvin, Altenburg or Dunn
Again, doesn't mean they're not in this article, just a google search had silence on them also.

The positive takeaway is he thinks Woliczko has us as a possible frontrunner. Let's hope we cross the finish line in that same position as well. Also it seems Bjorn may have leveled us up to the very top of her list now.

Hope someone can confirm or deny parts of these article search findings.

So this is REO Speedwagon heard it from friend who heard it from a friend type info. Guy posted on another site that he read on another site that someone who supposedly has some inside info that UConn was the clear favorite for Bjorn, Now Iowa is right there with UConn, said Lewis is a lock for Iowa, Also said Iowa currently leads for Woliczko and Chastain. Who knows what is truly going on at this point but hey it’s something to dream and talk about.

Hmmm interesting... haven't come across that UConn was a clear favorite. I've had TX lean for a long time coz hawkbuck has hit the mark 15+ times without a miss.

Sean Bock wrote about Bjorn recently in this paywall article and stated UConn is a major player for her services.

Article Title: Iowa Women's Basketball Top Target Profile: 5-star forward Addison Bjorn
"Let's be clear-- UConn is right in the thick of it. Clay believes that Bjorn is a prospect that is going to take a few visits. Iowa has done a ..."

This is one reason why @Matt1nb7 and I were looking for info on Bjorn's visit to UConn scheduled on 2/12/25. Still haven't found jack on it yet in articles or from the boneyard. Looking everyday since the 12th and nothing but the silent treatment so far. Seems very odd if UConn is in the thick of it and was a clear favorite on top of it.

Besides the Bjorn source(s) possibly playing telephone, it looks like David Eickholt isn't far off on his assessment on Lewis, Woliczko and Chastain. They seem to match up on these 3 recruits currently leaning towards IA from what we can tell from the info at hand.

All I know is Jan is aiming awfully high with this group and she should while the iron it hot yet. Whatever Jan and crew are doing it seems we have a little more than just a foot in the door with these 4 recruits + Harpring is still in the mix as well.

Hopefully we can sweeten the pot a little more with another CA upset Sunday. Losing all the firepower from last year and then beating two Top 5 teams with ZERO 5 star recruits along with sellout crowds has to pin us on the top of their list for some, if not most, of this small core group.

Would be nice if we could get @hawkbuck70 to add any intel he might have regarding this group of recruits as well.

The thing with recruiting is we don’t know how things change with younger players as they age and mature and build relationships. Bjorn for example, Everyone speculates but we don’t know what is truly in her head. Texas may well still be her favorite or maybe as she has built relationships with coaches and players her perspective may have changed as she ages and matures. At one time Iowa was Maddyn Greenways dream school but as she grew older her perspective changed. This will sound corny but the girl I had a crush on when I was 15 was not the same girl I had the hots for when I was 17.

Also one thing you hear most of these recruits say is that they want to play with other good players. It seems the top players know each other and have developed some relationships. If Bjorn knows that Addie is already coming to Iowa and also knows that Jenica and McKenna are seriously considering Iowa it may have helped her to really give Iowa a bit more serious consideration.

Anyway it really is nice to be discussing Iowa seeming to have a legit shot at landing some truly top level talent. Who knows if any of it pans out but at least we are in the game with the big dogs.

Have a new discovery update this morning regarding the article written by David Eickholt from yesterday.

Article Title: Iowa Women's Basketball Recruiting Buzz: The latest in the 2026 and 2027 classes

Originally I only found this text through a google search pertaining to Addison Bjorn.
2) "Clay believes that Bjorn is a prospect that is going to take a few visits. Iowa has done a great job with the recruitment and there's ..."

However while researching another issue, discovered there's another sentence prior to the quote above stating this important little nugget about Bjorn:

Have since modified my original post with this latest development.

To me those few visits Clay is talking about are probably to UConn on the Feb 12th and Texas on the Feb 16th that Talia Goodman tweeted out.

@Scott559 The info you provided with your "Take It on the Run" reference sounds like it might actually be true after all. It seems David E. felt the same way in the article above where he put the UConn lean on pause for now coz IA may have caught up to them and/or others at the top of her list.

The thing I don't know is the guy (your REO reference) who posted this may have gotten his info from the David E. article linked above. Just a question coz I'm not privy to where this info came from or how he stated this insider info. However, if the guy posted the info prior to the David E. article yesterday, then he got most likely got his info from somewhere else.

Interesting development Jan might be trying to pull off here.

Tip for y’all regarding paywalls. Go to archive.ph and copy and paste your links.

Tip for y’all regarding paywalls. Go to archive.ph and copy and paste your links.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Tried the URL and got the same paywall result.

If you look at other archives for the main domain site, they also have the paywall saved in many of those snapshots as well. So I wasn't the only one that ran into the same paywall.

Looks like it might not work for all sites or else the first person who archives must be someone who has a paid subscription so they can archive the non-paywall result. Meaning if you're a smart author of your articles, you'll go to these archive sites and save the paywall edition of it so people can't bypass it. Just my thought on it right off hand.

EDIT: After thinking about it a little more, guess anyone who archives at a later time and has a paid subscription can archive it under a different version and you could see the full contents of the article then.

The page I'm referencing above has three saved archives now and they all have the paywall saved in them.

I may be wrong, but think someone with a paid subscription needs to archive for this to work.
