Iowa WBB Class of 2026 Recruiting Thread

My advice to recruits, and my advice doesn't matter, but I would tell recruits to make darn sure that the place you decide on is a place that you like and respect the coaches and your future teammates. You have your whole life ahead of you to make all of the money you will ever need. Many of our former players are doing quite well for themselves, Disterhoft, Reynolds, including some head coaches. I realize other places offer future opportunities as well, but I don't believe they all do.

Each player is different, Back in the summer I believe it was Talia Goodman had an interview with Kate Harping on some of the schools she visited, Pardon me if I don’t get comments exactly correct but when commenting on LSU she said that LSU was all about NIL and that she wasn’t really into all that.

Anyway, While I don’t think Iowa is near the top in regard to the NIL arms race, I do believe Iowa can be pretty competitive, I also believe if NIL is the driving factor in a player making their decision they likely don’t fit what Iowa looks for in their culture.
The thing is IF your good enough, TRUE NIL will come. CC22 is exactly perfect example of this.....

It’s a risk but I like a lower number at that game. It’s kind of like, “hey, we really really want you.” 3 2026 recruits, 1 2027, 1 2028, and 2 already committed.

Guy and Lewis have already visited multiple times I believe. So the re-invite to Bjorn and Chastain is extra special along with the first visit of Harpring.
Agree. Having almost 20 recruits at a Uconn game just tells them, "Hey thanks ladies, but most of you will never play here"....

It will be very difficult to get Harpring out of the South. Awfully early for an official visit.

Still don't thing Bjorn will be a Hawk, give Jan credit for trying.

Lewis would be a solid commit, seems like the family likes the Hawks. Fingers crossed.

Chastain and Deal spent time together. She is an intriguing 2007 prospect.

Only time will tell.
If she's an 2007 recruit she'd be 35 or so....

Cool that Deal, Harpring, and Chastain had access to the team and shoot-around (presumed). And doubly cool that Harpring brought the whole family.

Do signed players like Deal still have NCAA recruiting restrictions, or does that sort of thing morph into "junior members of the program"?
They certainly had access. Those pictures with CC22 were with her working out with the team in the am I believe.

"Addison Bjorn is set to take an unofficial visit to UConn on Feb. 12 followed by another visit to Texas on Feb. 16 according to On3Sports."

Pretty much crickets on the boneyard if Bjorn visited on the 12th. The boneyard is usually pretty active. Couldn't find anything on it either. Seems odd... Maybe a reschedule? Maybe a fallout? A mystery for now.

There was a snow storm in the Midwest on the 12th, so a reschedule seems very possible.

Bjorn, Woliczko, and Harpring would be a Dream Team. Add in Lewis and I would be extremely happy 😃

They would have the opportunity to do something special together, but too much to ask for I'm afraid.

Yes, it is...I am an optimist, but that is extremely unlikely...
If we would get Lewis and at least one PF, we would be in great shape. Truly wishful thinking to get more. Too many top programs after these young ladies, not to mention distance to expect getting all of them.

We have two solid posts, a top 15 wing, top 50 point and several solid wings in the fold.

2 Raven Johnson
3 Saniya Rivers(transferred and help lead NC State to a final 4)
4 Sania Feagin(big year for Saniya’s/Sania’s)
14 Bree Hall

They have all been mostly role players for the one’s that stayed. This year Maryam Dauda who was 13th that season transferred in an is averaging a robust 1.7 ppg in 6 mpg. Amazing how Dawn gets these 5 stars to fall in line and accept smaller roles.

I think there was a year when Coach Stringer had that kind of class! I am thinking they made it to the Hawkeye’s first final four!

I can't find it, but one year she brought in 7 players from the first 1st, 2nd and 3rd team Parade All American classes including HS player of the year Tiffany Gooden. I think Tia Jackson might have been one and a center who played several years in the WNBA, Smith?. They didn't rate them by numbers back then, just HS All American classes as far as I remember. There were 10 players on each team as I recall, so that would have been 7 top 30 players.

That 1994 class had these 7 players: Nadine Domond, Tiffany Gooden, Angela Hamblin, Shannon Perry, Tangela Smith, Malikah Willis and Tamicha Kirby. Smith made first team All Big Ten her last two years. Domond, Gooden and Hamblin made second team.

Shannon Perry-LeBeauf is an assistant coach at UCLA. Tangela Smith is an assistant Coach at Northwestern.

I remember playing in a pickup game at the field house in the fall of ‘94. Tangela Smith was running with us average guys. She held her own. Not sure that she could dunk, but she could touch the rim with ease.

Thanks, Tia Jackson must have been a different class. I haven't checked but she was an assistant somewhere, not sure now.
