I believe Russia and Iran cooperated on these recent events to distract the US from support of Ukraine, shift more forces to Middle East and eat up US weapons so not available elsewhere.
(Just like China is helping Russia to weaken any US response to their possible aggression by making US commit more resources to Europe.)
