Fran had been known for his athletic, under-sized, run and gun teams previous to Iowa.
However, at Iowa he's recruited athletes that are, for the most part, more suited for half-court ball. Particularly the guards.
Our starting 5 this year was basically all players that would tend to excel moreso in half-court than up-tempo full. (that is, they held greater potential in half-court ball control than uptempo)
I had always imagined that we were going to end up with teams looking like Oregon -- not necessarily in ability, mind you -- more often than not.
So all this said... does Fran need to re-think his high tempo-offense first philosophy if he's going to keep recruiting like he has?
In particular... I don't think we're going to be built correctly for his preferred style of play until we get the sort of athletic guards that we always seem to be missing.
