Is it true that QB Boyle didn't travel with team to Nebraska?

I thought I heard that both wiegers and boyle may be graduating in December. Pretty sure weigers for sure
How would Boyle graduate in 2.5 years?

RS in 2015 (Fr)
RS Fr in 2016 (So)
RS So in 2017 (Jr)

He'd be graduating halfway through his (academic) Junior year, which seems ridiculously fast.

Both Boyle and Cook were pretty highly rated guys coming in. They wanted to give QB a try, probably against better judgment and it has not worked out. Reminds me of AJ Derby. Left Iowa b/c could not crack QB lineup and turns into an NFL tight end, which is what he should have been playing all along. Cook = Tight End. Boyle = Safety.

Boyle is graduating in May, Weigers is December. Graduating in May of 3rd Academic year is very doable as I did it, of course I didn’t play D1 Football either.

What schools did Boyle have offers from?

If he was highly rated, I bet it was a really good list.

dbrocket...... If Stanley improves like I think he will next year (ABT QB) , he could be a potential 2 rounder QB, maybe late first. He has the prototypical NFL QB body for the pro set style of play. His arm strength is better than average. He will have started two years and faced a lot of decent defenses. Hard to say a franchise QB especially when playing Iowa's conservative ground first offense but the pros are about projecting college to NFL transition.

Maybe you have better knowledge of Mansell's progress but I have heard Mansell is a little oversold on height. Next Drew Brees ... not sure. Anyway, Hunter Johnson can probably find a home at any non-top 8 CFP schools and beat out most current roster competition.

Just my opinion.
I think Stanley has 1st round QB potential, but I don't think he'll be ready next year. He has a lot to work on. His feel for and movement in the pocket has been great in some games, but lacking in others (this is essential for someone who is not a runner). The same goes for his touch and accuracy on throws - really great in some games; just okay in others. I think he's also got some work to do on pre-snap reads and audibles. You can see the flashes, and feel those improvements coming, but he's a true junior and I think he's probably best served by playing through his senior year. Granted, though, we won't know until midway through the conference schedule next year, at the earliest.

I realize from a cost standpoint graduating in 3 years would be an economical decision. However, college is the best time of your life, so I advised both of my kids to take the full four years. You have the rest of your life to work. :(

They do have a walk-on QB, Ryan Schimdt (sp?) and he was the 3rd QB at Neb.

I too wonder if Cook would move back to QB, if both Weigers and Boyle leave. I don't see him getting much PT at TE either with TJ & Fant, plus Beyer & then they have a couple TE's that are used for blocking. They all seem to be ahead of Cook at TE.
He and Boyle are just not D1 football game day talented. Great HS players in Iowa...

Without question. Neither has the arm talent that Stanley has. I would think after seeing Rudock and CJ move to the league, and both Sokol and Shimonek playing elsewhere, that the staff does know what QB talent looks like. I think both Boyle and Cook were destined to move positions, but both were given the chance to compete first. Cook now finds himself in a deep pool of TE talent, and Boyle probably does go the grad transfer route. It would be hard to believe that would be at a P5 school however, as the guy has never played a down at QB.

Lets face it, with the exception of a few teams, if your starting QB goes down you are going to have problems. There are not many backups that will sustain the teams level of success, there is always a drop in performance and wins.

When they signed Boyle I thought he was a Safety or maybe RB/WR. I don't think he has the arm talent for QB. Thought at Safety he may get a shot at the NFL. If he wants to go play QB at a read option school, I can't blame him.

Also thought Wiegers may look at a MAC school for playing time
He never played safety in high school or college, correct?

I wouldn't sell Cook short at TE. I think he'll be in the rotation as soon as he develops a TE body and learns to play with his hand on the ground. Good speed, great hands. Think Derby.
