I agree, but I see why he played over a freshman. It wasn’t hard to see. Again, didn’t say my plan, but only a liar or a dummy didn’t see it. We honestly have fans who truly think we had wildly better options on the bench. It’s laughable really. And clear why they aren’t coaches…🤷♂️

Hill and Marco were basically the same experience level.
Marco may have had turnovers as well, but it’s possible that Marco escapes those plays where Hill fumbles. Extends drives. Potential for points.
I don’t understand in this day and age a division 1 QB, freshman or not….cannot throw a forward pass. Marco was 70% completion in high school….how do you forget to throw a ball ??
It could mean horrible horrible recruitment and miss after miss by Iowa staff
In my view, you have Hill come in for Cade when injured. You split first team reps with Marco getting more and more as it became obvious Hill was a liability
Marco becomes starter because he can keep plays alive. Live with the turnovers cause that was ok with Hill
And their units have been the best in the program. You'd think KF and others would connect the dots, but apparently not, lol.

There had to be a part of you who knew this was a real possibility. I wanted to be wrong, but I was pretty sure it'd be a shit hire for a few reasons. First, Kirk was pissed his son was hated by the fanbase despite obvious reasons and he loves giving a middle finger to the Iowa fans. Second, there was no way he would hire someone who would prove the fans right, so an accomplished OC was never coming here. Third, Kirk was never going to allow someone to run the offense their way, regardless of what has been said about his offense the better part of the last 20+ years. I admit I'm afraid of what would happen to Iowa football if Kirk is shown the door, but he clearly can't evolve, so maybe ripping the band aid off is the best path forward.

All of the genuine respect and goodwill KF built up in his first 15 years is gone. He got to the point where he feels he's untouchable, made a bogus hire with his kid at OC, and believes the Iowa program is his family's business.

It doesn’t mean people didn’t question it when it happened, you’re looking at it with 20/20 hindsight vision. At least this OC was a QB, and had 5 top 40 ranked scoring offense is 6 years, I can just see some hope I guess.
It’s their delusion….keep in mind some of these cats, likely most, will completely forget their vitriol when it works out. It’s why I don’t care for them and go out of my way…

People question almost every hire and over whelming majority of people were praising the Harbaugh hire to the nfl unlike this one. Difference between your Harbaugh and Lester comparison is Harbaugh was successful every where prior, during his stint with the 49ers and after. Lester not so much especially his limited time as OC.

At least KFz came from the Hayden coaching tree. That had a lot to do with his hire. He wasn't a compete unknown in Iowa City.

His results as an OC are more limited but poor.
But apparently he was a lot more involved in the play calling at WMU, so that does make me feel better.
