It’s Lester. And it’s time for Beth to prepare for KFs exit

If I was Beth I would use this hire as leverage. I would tell KF I’m very concerned about this hire. Ask KF for a timeline on when to expect results from Lester. Tell KF that if Lester doesn’t pan out in that timeframe that KF agrees to overhaul of coaching staff (including himself).

It's set for now. This kind of stuff can come into play when there are four years left on the contract, at which point you have to make decisions due to recruiting purposes. So if this is failing at that point, decisions will have to be made.

Yep, let's keep him until he's 80. Kirk gets to choose whatever he wants!
If I start/run my own company, I can choose my own exit (technically, not even this is true, as there’s a market that may dictate otherwise, but for the sake of argument let’s say it is). This is the only arrangement in which this should be the case. Ever.

We have no clue if KJ was offered the position or not or if he turned it down for some reason - family, money, etc. Many have made a judgement on Lester before he's even been OC for one game. Give the man a chance to come in and work.

Wait until we have all the facts before passing judgement.

This exactly. I've set a 5 year plan to retire while getting bought out. It's all great if the companies I represent are still happy w/how our company does things and we continue to produce. Basically meaning I actually have to bust my ass more now than ever before as I can't afford any F ups. So while that's a plan there is certainly no guarantee. The people who think Kirk has some "right" to just 100% decide when and how he retires and at any age are being ridiculous. It's been mutually really good for 24 years or so? In how many jobs however does a 70 year old get to decide that it's totally his call when he retires?

True, but I think what his tenure at Iowa means is that it's probably going to take several losing seasons before the administration would even consider getting rid of him.
