It is just me, or does Stoll look physically more solid than at the Grapple?

Took the words right out of my mouth! Ha

Looks like that spare tire is smaller to me.

It might.

But compare him to a year ago at this time and it is almost night and day.

I'm not sure he makes the podium this year but he's going to be a best for years to come. Never understood why so many were down on him. He's exactly the level of recruit that people are whining we don't get and then some of the same people were throwing him under the bus before he ever wrestled an official mat as a Hawkeye.

I remember last year alot posters jumping on him as well. His hips were powerful then but was still learning the speed. This kids going to podium this year.

I was high on him as a recruit because he was #14 P4P, had 63 consecutive pins in high school, and slotted in nicely as a four-year starter following Telford--a very efficient investment.

I was disappointed in his redshirt year, as he had 5 losses to non-Div I AA-caliber opponents. That's not a great sign. So my expectations were modest coming into this season.

I was pleasantly surprised by his confidence and aggressiveness against Marsden, and he's looked good ever since. I was actually thinking he had an outside shot against Smith and it would be an opportunity to put himself on the map with a win. It was and he did. No more doubting from me. We need every point we can get at NCAAs this year, and I see at least 5 that I didn't see a month ago.

Yep, there's some reason for optimism. Funny how Bradley's arrival from mission has suddenly went quiet............(glad to have him BTW). Of course we can't crown Stoll just yet after his 1st "signature win", but just for the hell of it.............................................

Sammy! Sammy! Sammy! Sammy! Sammy! Sammy! :D

Exactly my sentiments. I always liked Sam. Seems like a great kid. He came in with super high expectations - that were met when he beat B. Black but otherwise not always met on the mat last year for some reason. I don't think that many really gave up on him - just scratching their collective heads at the results. This year he is looking the part. I think he will be a real fan favorite before long.

Between 'best' and 'beast', I'd take best..............

Probably should have realized that a freshman HWT is bound to have some struggles.
