Jackson postpones decision

Well that sucks. Must be nice to not recruit the kid and just swoop in at the last minute and still get him.

Harbarff looked around, saw IOWA was really looking at this kid, then decided they better offer.
Kind of like Bert Beelemma used to do.

Harbaugh is really starting to piss me off. First Higdon last year and now this. I hope we beat the piss out of them when they come to Iowa City.

What really sucks too is that those guys are just fall back recruits for them who they will recruit over if they don't develop fast enough. I would bet Higdon transfers sooner rather than later.

yeah and we even helped out with Jake R. getting there. Again, all the more reason why there needs to be an earlier signing period.

michigan lost and ol commit who switched to stanford over the weekend. this could be to take that spot

Yeah, perhaps all the 'experts' are wrong and A Jackson will realize how
Smart he will look in Hawkeye Black n Gold

Iowa coaches just need to talk some sense in him. So he is waiting to make his decision in case Michigan has an offer for him? That just seems insane. he must want to play close to home really badly to pick a school that hasn't wanted him at all until the end over a school that has been on him for a long time now and is their top target. Harbaugh probably won't even be there in two years. I would bet money he gets another NFL opportunity and takes it.

Jimmy boy got his just deserts. He cut Erik Swenson loose after being committed for two years and you are correct, Devery Hamilton decommitted from Michigan and committed to Stanford.

Hope it isn't at our expense. I wonder if he losses out on #1 DT recruit Gary if he offers Lattimore.

Always get concerned about losing out-of-state kids at the last minute. Less than two days away.

Hopefully lattimore sends his letter in before Gary declares for anybody.

Wonder how many more guys Michigan is planning on getting and who they would have to lose out on to offer Jackson?

He either has to wait for an offer from up north, or he just got the offer and needs a day to think about the choice. When Michigan or Ohio State come a knockin' it's going to give a recruit pause! Hopefully, time and effort in the recruiting process will pay off for Iowa!

Bummer. He might still commit. Iowa can use big bodies like his for sure. The one saving grace tho is that after watching his film this morning MAN is he slow! I trust KF tho so if they like him great. No reason to get to bent outta shape over. The program will survive.

has happen a few times lately. michigan offered a virgina ol commit flipped few day later. psu dt flipped a week later. te who had not been recuited by michigan. had an official to florida changes it to michigan and picks michigan on visit

This problem wouldn't happen if Iowa offered more OL recruits. You can't tell me that there weren't a lot more OTs than Farniok and Jackson they could have been spending time recruiting. They should never be in this position with OL recruits. Never.
The last three years OL recruits beside James Daniels who they got because of his brother.

Cole Banwart -IA
Spencer Williams- IA
Newborg- IA
Levi Paulsen -IA
Landan Paulsen -IA
Brett Waechter -IA
Lucas Legrand -IA
Keegan Render - IA
Ross Reynolds -IA

Additional Iowa kids on roster
Ferentz
Myers
Boettger
Croston
Ferguson
Gaffey

I think the only kids on the roster from other states at OL are Welsh, Daniels, Keppy and Ward

Nothing against Iowa kids but Iowa should be better at recruiting good out of state OL. They used to do it so not sure what the problem has been. After next year they will only have Welsh and Daniels from out of state. And oh yeah for the 2017 recruiting class they have another Iowa kid Wirfs committed and also might get Kallenberger.

Man any recruit that would believe Jim has his interests at heart has totally lost it. After the way he has run kids off in the last two weeks there's no doubt he's all in it for Jim.

What ever he's selling other than his big party meet and greet on signing day is meaningless. Would you believe him if he were to say to your son he has a plan for him to see the field and he'll hold up his end of the bargain?

At this point any recruit that takes the bait will get what they deserve. I hope this young man chooses Iowa, but if he leaves we will be fine.

A class act after getting Jake last year. I can't wait for him to go back to the NFL. No wonder he wears out his welcome so quickly everywhere.

True but kirks 2 Outland trophy winners are both from the state. The state of Iowa produces fine lineman just not enough to field a decent line every year.. If he does go to Michigan this sucks

yeah nothing wrong with getting some good Iowa OL but that number is too much because there won't be a good all iowa line every year.

See here's what I don't get about the Swenson deal. Recruiting Jackson now after cutting him loose? Makes no sense.

I actually really respected Michigan. I enjoyed their fan base and always thought they were a classy institution. Harbaugh and company are really tearing that foundation down just because they're desperate to beat Ohio State. It makes me sick to my stomach that since he just followed the OL coach on twitter today means they have had almost zero contact with him and they just swoop in at the last minute with an offer without recruiting the kid at all? It makes me sick to my stomach that coaches could be that sleezy. I hope MSU and Ohio State continue to pound them in the future and Jimmy boy gets run out town for being a complete scUM bag.

It's all pretty clear to me. Alaric is their 4th or 5th option. If he goes to scUM there really is a solid chance that we never hear of him again. If he comes to Iowa there is a GREAT chance he develops into an All big ten lineman just like the guys that came before him.

Agree w/ D1979. One of the realities of this staff is that they have no closers. Not one. That has hurt Iowa to a certain degree over the years and this might be another one. Really good coaches no doubt just not salesmen.
