Wed Nov 20, 2024 Update:

During Kirk's weekly radio show:

"We're not playing yet, but Jackson looks like the guy that will be going, He'll get the start.

Confident that he'll do a great job.

He stepped in, did a really nice job in our last ball game.

And he’s got a good ability to throw the football, and he’s learning every day.

So if he’s our guy, we’ll go with him and see what we can do.“

Cade, a gimpy, slow, 6th-year senior could start next game? WHY?

If he and Sullivan are healthy, Sullivan should start without question. If neither is healthy, Stratton will be ready to go by then. Hell, he did a great job @ UCLA, making two amazing third-down throws and leading Iowa to a touchdown.

Cade should be on the shelf the rest of the way UNLESS every other QB is injured. Period. I mean, what the hell would be the upside of starting McNamara?

Couldn’t agree more. The future is now and Cade isn’t it. Like you said, if he’s the only healthy body then fine, but otherwise here’s the clipboard.

We are 6-4. I agree; it's time to turn the page on Cade and start either Sully or Jackson.

As there is not much left to play for except trying to squeak out a couple of more wins, I really hope they play Sullivan and get him as many reps as they can for the rest of the year. He ultimately may not be the guy, but he should be allowed to make or break himself for next year. That’s what these two games really mean, getting sized up for next year.

In a 3 point loss, I am guessing coaches were not pleased with Sully's 3 turnovers at UCLA
As a coach I’d be more upset with the o-lines inability to run or pass block. Sully was getting killed back there and it wouldn’t have made a difference who the QB was. Maybe Lester should be upset with himself for continuously trying to ram KJ into the heart of the D or not having some quick passing plays like screens or slants.

Stratton might just win the job if he has a good week this week with all of the QB1 reps
No doubt. I take it that Stratton doesn't have the playbook down. (Obvious for a linebacker). But he has the tools and made good decisions. Best passer and has wheels! Give him 2 weeks with the #1s and turn him loose!

I am ok with that. Lester is getting tested in several ways. We can bring in experience if needed, but we are a developmental program. You come to Iowa, you come to coach. Jackson seems to have the ability, he just needs reps and refinement. In just the short amount of time Lester has been here. he has done a lot with the QB room.
