Jackson Stratton would likely be QB1 if Iowa had to play today vs Maryland (confirmed by Kirk on Wed night, Nov 20)

Shaggy's future (after this year) at Iowa is still at QB, right?

NHL Hockey season in full swing, The time of Iowa football is over and Flames season tickets has arrived in full swing , Predators Islanders, Rangers and Wild in this week, liver flush season in full swing . I truly feel for People in Iowa stuck with the Hawks as the only game in Town, between Kirk and Fran i bet big pharma is making a killing down there.
I would be fine with Stratton especially if he is getting a lot of reps over 2 weeks prep time. Stratton seemed quick and fast enough, he threw some great passes, he didnt look nervous so if the running game is working I think Stratton could do well.
Was it Lester that was continuously trying to ram KJ or was it Sullivan not making the right reads in the RPO?
Iowa wrestling looks more stacked than I expected. Didn't realize we had all the guys come in that we did. Must of had some money flow in there.options are a good thing.

Felt like this was coming the moment Stratton put his helmet on. It's gonna be Cade the rest of the year and we're going to have to drink our way through it (or not watch?) .

He hasn't been abused mentally by this coaching staff and their inability to develop QBs is what he means.
That's why he looked so good on that drive against UCLA.

Imagine what practice must be like where LESTER thinks Cade is the best option at QB1
Again, Lester made it sound like it's his decision on who is QB1.
And Lester obviously talks to KF about it and then KF has to answer the questions (and take all the heat) at the weekly press conferences.
I think Lester is the real deal; I think he actually knows what he's doing.
He was not a linebacker. I still think the reporter had him confused with Kyle Gerardy who ALSO wears #19. Once Resar switched weeks ago I would think that Stratton had to be running the practice squad QB snaps.
Resar moved to WR weeks ago so Stratton probably ran the scout offense. Others have said that the #19 on the scout team defense was Gerardy, not Stratton...
Stratton had some really nice throws in his limited time, but Sullivan had a really nice deep ball that shouldn't be forgotten amidst his errors. Sullivan is a project but has great physical talent, much like the MSU qb that has thrown way more picks this year and yet continues to be the starter.

Due to injuries to all three QBs ahead of him, as well as a position flip and an injury to freshman James Resar, Stratton was the lone available quarterback for the Hawkeyes in the second half of the Friday night loss.”
Kyler (not Kyle) Gerardy walked on as a DB(athlete) and played QB for North Scott. I believe HE was practicing as DB for the scout team.
But yes, both Gerardy and Stratton were #19. Not sure if Gerardy had to change his number since you can’t have two offensive guys both wearing #19.

While I agree with you we have only seen a minute pic of his play. Give him a full game and it could be different.
Sully was a step up in our eyes as a more mobile QB. But he still turned the ball over and now is injured from being a bit reckless with his mobility. Let's face it Iowa offense has more issues than just at QB. Stacking the box against Iowa is the answer of opposing defenses right now. Hard for the QB alone to overcome.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Shaggy getting all of the QB1 reps this week...and maybe next week?
Best thing he could do with qb room is make Cade 3rd or 4th string.
At one point against UCLA they had all 11 in the box and yes we still tried to run the ball.
I know adrenaline takes over and Sullivan wanted to get every yard that he could. However, given our current situation at QB, shouldn't there have been an emphasis from the coaching staff to slide or actively avoid contact? Sullivan was getting absolutely smoked over and over again in the UCLA game. I guess I just don't get it? Tell him to get some yards and then step out of bounds or slide.
Whether it was suggested or not Sullivan should be smart enough to know he should slide in those instances.

You can’t objectively look at the line play this year and say they still suck.
Well in that situation is #1 allowed to change the play? Kind of stuff I would want to know. How much leeway does the QB have out there. We know the read option stuff the QB has the option keep the ball based on his read.
Stratton was good from the perspective of being a last minute emergency back up. As a regular starter, no. Maybe with more data.

He made it sound that way, but I bet ole Kirk has the final say and he wants McNamara to start and play every down.
And c'mon Fran, how much heat does Ferentz ever get? The press corps in Eastern Iowa is as compliant and agreeable as any in the country. Iowa City, when never a discouraging word is heard (at least from the media).
Do you really think that if Kirk is big footing on Lester that Lester will stay another season?
You know what I loved about Stratton, and I told the wife this when he came in. The dude was not pissing down his leg. There was no anxiety on display. That's half the damn battle with a QB. We have had some dudes with the jitters, and he didn't look like he had any.
They need to teach him to protect his body. Guy needs to slide, he went to crap after taking those hits.
