I know we all hate him but on Rob Howe's weekly mailbag podcast he answered a question about Resar switching to WR. Apparently with journalists it's been known for a while with some whispers and he basically confirmed it.

Now it may work out in the long run but switching a QB to WR less than a year on campus is got to be yet another indictment on the Ferentz Family QB evaluations.

I'm hoping Lester's evaluation of both is what decided this.
Well know, if the next thing we hear is his development is delayed, and he won’t see the field until his senior season, because they decided to bulk him up a little more and transition him from WR to TE. 🙄

In isolation, it seems like a brilliant move. The McNutt, DJK, etc. comparisons are valid. So if Sullivan is the QB next year, the Iowa offense could look very much better. But the gigantic IF is this: how many key guys will hit the portal, and how many key guys can Iowa lure in from the portal to replace them? The moving parts between seasons in college football these days make the future almost unknowable. But again, in and of itself, I think the position change could be great for both Resar and the Hawkeyes.

DJK was switched similarly and Clinton Solomon was a former WR as a prep. Already have Reece converted Day 1.

Marvin McNutt was given a longer look. WR room will be better in 2025.

I will keep saying , we need at least 1 portal QB next year. Probably need to portal out ML.
Why? If Resar is moving to WR, let Marco develop. His mobility alone makes him a potential huge gain for the offense, I hope he is working on throwing those out routes.

So did Resar know he was going to switch to WR before he arrived? Was he willing to switch and will he stay around.
How fast is he?
Don't know about whether he knew or was part of the decision;. but he is fast for being 6'4" and 205 lbs. Ran as low as a 10.86 100 meters in track. Probably averaged right at 11 seconds.

If he is 6'4" and runs a 4.5 40 time, that makes him a possible elite deep threat.

H.S. Athletic Background

Also runs track. 2x regional qualifier in the 100-meter dash. Owns times of 10.67 (1.8), 10.86, 10.86 (1.0), 10.88, 10.90, 10.95, 10.98 (1.5) and 10.99 (0.3) in the race. Has also gone 22.72 in the 200 and 56.09 in the 400.

Those are pretty good times for someone with that size of frame. Might be a great move for him in the long run.

Yeah, why make the switch from QB to WR with less than a year on campus? Makes way more sense for him to wait a few years and then make the move from QB to WR with only like 1-2 years left of eligibility. That makes way more sense.

Yeah man I said I didn't hate it. If he was showing good skills as a QB do you think he still gets moved to WR this fast?

I think he could end up being a great TE.
Agree.

I think this is something that’s been missing for a while, is adding a bunch of weight to a good athlete to get them from TE to OT or WR to TE.

It was a way for us to tip the scales back in our favor from an athleticism standpoint at certain positions.

Zero chance they’ve missed this many times in a row with QBs. It’s a development problem.
We’re already complaining about the thing every single poster on this board predicted when Resar was still in high school?

On brand.

Good luck against the Dragons on Friday!!!

What coach could say if he does have qb skills? Certainly no one on the present staff.
Lester was a successful QB/QB coach/OC/HC while filling the role of OC.

What galaxy brain conclusion would suggest he doesn’t have the acumen to judge QB skills?

Iowa looking like a hemorrhoid at MSU does not mean we have to post every thought that pops into our heads.

Me too, So far I would trust Lester's judgement of a QB over KF. I mean, anyone that says Deacon Hill gives us the best chance to win shouldn't be trusted when it comes to QB evaluations.
I've always trusted Kirk; but no longer. I don't believe he'll make any necessary changes. Just too stubborn and set in his ways.

You arent too smart if you think this was Kirk's decision. Lester owns the offense and after an evaluation made the move. Luke McCaffery was the same use case and now plays in the NFL.
