Jan 21 Injury Updates: Payton's shoulder & leg; Koch was hospitalized? Josh & Drew are fine. Traore is 100% (ankle sprain on Nov 26)

Payton Sandfort's status is still unclear for Iowa basketball’s Tuesday matchup with Minnesota. Payton got banged up multiple times in the first half of Iowa’s contest against UCLA on Friday and sat out the majority of the game.

Fran said Payton is dealing with shoulder and leg issues.

Before that game, Sandfort was starting to hit his stride. He was named Big Ten co-Player of the Week for his performances in wins over Nebraska and Indiana. In the three games prior to UCLA, Sandfort averaged 24.3 points per game.

Payton ranks 2nd on the team in points (16.2), rebounds (5.4) and assists (3.2). Being without him would be yet another challenge in what has been an injury-riddled season for the Hawkeyes.

We won’t know Payton’s status for certain until Tuesday.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on with DIx? After missing a couple of shots at the rim, where it sure looked like he was fouled and also one 3, he made no attempt to score maybe the last 35 minutes of the game. I know he was exerting a lot of energy as the primary defender on Garcia, and I thought he did a pretty good job (a lot of Garcia's points came on switches), but something is off. It was also off on the trip to CA.

Thelwell is also not executing like he was, but his energy is still there. He might be suffering from Josh's lack of energy on the offensive end.

I thought this was Traore's best game of the year, so it was really the guard play that killed us, although Harding came to life down the stretch, after a bad first half.

What have been the list of Cooper’s injuries so far. Guy seems to have had quite the bad last 18 months of health. Probably should have red shirted and focused on adding muscle.
Both him and Freeman need to be locked in the weight room. If Freeman adds 20 pds of muscle. He’d be near unstoppable with his other skills.
